SUPPLIES FOR TUNERS
LISTED IN BOOKLET
Repairmen and the Trade Generally Should Be
Interested in New Booklet of Hammacher,
Schlemmer & Co., Inc.
Hammacher, Schlemmer & Co., Inc., 4th avenue
and 13th street, New York City, has issued Circular
No. 578, which is one of prime importance to piano
tuners, repairmen, dealers and of course to piano
factory workers. It is a complete list of piano mate-
rials and tools. But it is specially compiled for tuners
and repairmen and in it are set forth the well-ar-
ranged list of the items most in use and demand by
them. This purpose of the company is shown in the
foreword:
"We have tried to show in this condensed price-list
most of the items required by the tuner and repair
man, which represents only a small percentage of
the assortment we carry.
"Our line includes all the felts and hardware used
in the manufacture of pianos and players, and if
your requirements are not listed please correspond
with us.
Hammacher, Sehlemmer & Co., Inc., is famed in
the industry for its line of genuine Fly Brand Tuning
Pins, the prestige of which is due solely to quality.
"These are made from a specially drawn wire, by
men who have done nothing else for a lifetime," says
the booklet. "They are as near perfect as brains,
money and skill can produce, which explains why they
are demanded by all manufacturers of strictly high
grade pianos."
From action part to wrenches the list is long and
filled with suggestions for the tuner and repairmen,

The celebrated imported F. & G. (Felten & Guil-
leame) steel music wire handled by Hammacher,
Schlemmer & Co., Inc., is valued by manufacturers,
tuners and repairmen. For strength, uniformity, tone
quality, temper and every other known requisite for
an absolutely perfect, safe and dependable wire the
"F & G" is unexcelled. Made in three distinct grades
known as Black, Red and Green Label.
"We have it in 1 and 5-lb. coils and for tuners and
repairers we also have the handy and convenient
Yi-lb. clamps," advises the company in the new book-
let.
The company is making a special offer to dealers
and others buying 6 or more of the Camphor Outfit
advertised. It kills the moth which damages pianos.
The exclusive patented feature of this wonderful, new
camphor holder is the small tube at the back—it fits
closely over the tuning pins inside of the piano.
"The holder will absolutely not rattle while the
piano is being played. It is quickly attached—just
fits over any tuning pin. This camphor holder can
be attached to any upright or grand piano, player or
reproducing piano," is the guarantee.
Special prices are also offered to dealers and tuners
who buy several Kleernote Pumps at a time. This is
guaranteed to be "the only thorough and efficient
Tracker Bar Suction Pump. Absolutely essential for
removing dirt, dust and paper particles from the
tracker bar. Keeps the instrument in proper playing
condition, preventing weak and silent notes."
Circular No. 578 of Hammacher, Schlemmer & Co.,
Inc., is a first aid to prompt service in piano materials
and tools.

:'GYP" DEALERS CURBED
BY ST. LOUIS ORDINANCE
Piano Trade Will Be Benefited by Law Designed to
Protect Legitimate Business.
The manager of the Better Business Bureau of the
St. Louis Advertising Club, E. J. Brennan, has for-
warded to C. L. Dennis, manager of the Better Busi-
ness Bureau of the Music Industries Chamber of
Commerce, a copy of a new ordinance to curb "gyp"
dealers. This has been passed by the city council
and became effective January 4. The St. Louis ordi-
nance reads:
"An ordinance relating to advertisements for the
sale of goods, wares, merchandise, securities, or real
estate, and requiring dealers herein to state in such
advertising that said person is a dealer, and, providing
a penalty for the violation thereof, be ordained by the
City of St. Louis, as follows:
"It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, partner-
ship, co-operation, association, trust, or any employes
thereof, engaged in the business of selling goods,
wares, merchandise, securities, service or real estate
to advertise the sale of the same unless it shall be
stated in the advertisement of such sale, clearly and
unequivocally, that said person advertising such sale
of goods, wares, merchandise, securities, or real es-
tate is a dealer in the same; provided, however, that
the advertisement of the sale of any goods, wares,
merchandise, securities, service or real estate in such
form as to make it plainly apparent therefrom that
the person so advertising is actually engaged in the
business of selling such goods, wares, merchandise,
securities, service or real estate as a busines, shall be
deemed a sufficient compliance with the terms of this
ordinance. Any person violating the provision of
this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misde-
meanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished
by a fine of not less than twenty dollars nor more
than five hundred dollars for each offense."
The purpose of the above is to protect legitimate
business against the unfair competition of those who
do business out of residences and advertise under the
guise of individuals. Prior to the enactment of this
ordinance there was no practical way of reaching
such.
