BAND INSTRUMENTS IN DENVER.
Denver, Colo., in enjoying a band instrument busi-
ness that is remarkable. The Knight-Campbell
Music Co., is particularly favored in good orders
from newly formed band organizations throughout
the state. The new band of the Denver fire depart-
ment, the Woodmen of the World band of Idaho
Springs, the American Legion Band of Greely and
a band recently formed by the employes of the
railroad shops in Cheyenne, Wyo., were all supplied
by the band instrument department of the company,
of which Charles O. Bohun is manager.
NEW HOUSTON DEALER.
The Charles Parker Music Co. is a new musical
merchandise firm at 908 Capital avenue, Houston,
Tex. The proprietor is Charles Parker, formerly
band instructor at Baylor University. A full line of
band and orchestra instruments will be carried and
the goods will be featured in a forceful way under
the personal direction of the proprietor. All the
other instruments and accessories in a complete small
goods stock will also be carried.
SELLS HISTORIC 'CELLO.
The Tecchler 'Cello, an important unit of the Par-
tello Collection acquired by Lyon & Healy, Chicago,
during the past summer, was recently sold, that com-
pany announces. This 'cello was quite a historic in-
strument, and was known among violin lovers as the
"Duke of Edinburgh," because it was given to the
duke by the Commonwealth of Australia, in 1874, as
a wedding present. Although the Partello collection
was temporarily withheld from the market, it is now
gradually being broken up.
VIOLIN FOR COLLECTOR.
Peter Baltzerson, Roslindale, Mass., wood carver,
the other day completed the triumph of his art—an
Milaid violin which will grace the famous collection
of the Providence millionaire collector, John W. Cog-
geshall. Baltzerson is a Norwegian by birth and has
a wood carving shop at 218 Tremont street, Boston.
The pegs are of hand-worked pearl and gold, bringing
the value of the violin up to more than $1,000.
W. C. HESS RETURNS.
W. C. Hess, vice-president of the American Piano
Supply Co., New York, returned last week from a
Western trip with the most cheering accounts of con-
ditions in the Middle West. The outlook, according
to Mr. Hess, is very bright and cheerful. An ex-
change of views with men of the piano industry in
Chicago, where Mr. Hess remained over a week, was
very heartening, he says.

Association of New York, New Jersey and Connecti-
cut Dealers Hold Meeting in New York.
The December meeting of the Talking Machine
Men, Inc., was held on Wednesday, December 6, at
the Cafe Boulevard, 41st street, near Broadway,
New York city. This meeting was largely given
over to the members to present ideas for a largely
increased Christmas business.
Action was taken by the secretary on members in
arrears for dues.
There is still $350 outstanding for tickets to the
association dance. "It seems strange that there are
some dealers who never neglect to discount their
bills, yet do not seem inclined to pay for tickets for
our public affairs used by their customers or them-
selves," said E. G. Brown, secretary in commenting
on the fact. The committee intends to call off the
list of members still owing for tickets at the next
meeting.
A VICTOR DIVIDEND.
The Victor Talking Machine Company has de-
clared an extra dividend of $5 a share on the common
stock, payable December 6 to stockholders of record
