National protection in Brazil is now given to
trade-marks registered in Rio de Janeiro. Trade-mark
stealing has been common in Brazil and American
music companies have occasionally been the vic-
tims. But a decision given October 2 by the Su-
preme Court recognizes the right of the national
authorities of Brazil to refund the registration of
trade-marks deposited by the various Brazilian
s'tates if the trade-marks are found to be duplicates
of trade-marks already existing.
