GERMAN CATALOGUES IN FRENCH.
Reasons for the quick "come back" of the German
music industries are seen in the manner in which
the Berlin manufacturers reach out for trade, just
as if there never had been a war. The firm of Hil-
bert & Winkelmann, piano manufacturers, has just
issued a handsome export catalogue in which the
appeal for trade is made in four languages—Span-
ish, English, Italian and French. Even in the United
States where feeling has never run so high as in
the old world countries, no catalogue has yet ap-
peared in which a word of German has found place.
The German piano makers do not hesitate to use
any language that may convince customers far from
the sources of supply.
