US representatives
visit NAMA member
companies
Building on the National Automatic Merchandising Associ-
ation’s expanded legislative and advocacy efforts, two NAMA
member companies, A.H. Management Inc. and Flowers
Foods, recently hosted U.S. Congressional members Peter
Roskam (R-Ill.) and Rob Woodall (R-Ga.), respectively.
Rep. Roskam visited A.H. Management Inc. on May 15 at
its headquarters in Rolling Meadows, Ill. The congressman’s
visit included a briefing session where A.H. Management
executives informed him on the topics important to the
industry, including taxation and regulatory issues.
The briefing was followed by a tour of the facility, where
the congressman got first-hand experience of the day-to-day
operations and was introduced to many of the company’s
dedicated employees.
“Our visit with Rep. Roskam was a huge success,” said
A.H. Management Vice President of Administration Linda
Furlano. “He was engaging and very responsive to our con-
cerns. We were able to inform him of the issues before us as
an industry, as well as ‘put a face’ with those issues.
Eric Dell, NAMA senior vice president of external affairs,
echoed similar sentiments about Rep. Woodall’s visit with
Flowers Foods.
“Rep. Woodall’s visit is part of an enhanced effort by
the NAMA Government Affairs Division to educate elected

officials on our industry,” said Dell. “It is essential to our
advocacy efforts to have lawmakers who are familiar with
the convenience services industry and realize the impact that
legislation has on our members.”
Rep. Woodall visited a Flowers Foods bakery in Suwanee,
Ga., on May 11. Likewise, his visit included a briefing session
on industry issues, a tour of the company’s expansive produc-
tion facility, as well as a meeting with the company’s leader-
ship and employees.
As members of powerful House Committees, both con-
gressmen were interested in discussing ideas and suggestions
with the NAMA members on how government can help
improve the landscape for businesses to continue to grow
and support the economy. For more information, visit (www.

US National Video Game Team update
a panel about video game history at San Diego Comic-Con
2013.
Martin Alessi’s Little Player Magazine recently signed
a deal that will help distribute the publication to libraries
across the U.S. The start-up print magazine is presently the
only such video game publication aimed specifically to chil-
dren.
The Zaxxon arcade game that Tim McVey assisted in
rescuing is slated to appear in an Iowa video game museum.
The machine was spotted by McVey face-down on the side
of the road during a snowstorm a few months ago. Unable
to pick it up himself, his social media posts inspired someone
else in the area to pick it up and restore it. Research done by
USNVGT members Patterson and Lonnie McDonald estimate
that more than 90 percent of most dedicated machines from
the 1980s have now been converted or destroyed.
A documentary film about the history of the U.S. National
Video Game Team is officially in the works. Not much infor-
mation can be shared about it publicly at this time, other
than to note that the project will aim to cover the complete
history of the team starting with its origins at the Electronic
Circus event in 1982.
The film will also cover Walter Day’s use of the concept
as a Twin Galaxies public relations tool from 1983-1987
and the rebirth of the team under Steve Harris and Jeff
Peters in the late 1980s.
Team member Patrick Scott Patterson is set to work with
arcade industry veteran Warren Davis at the upcoming Let’s
Play Gaming Expo in Irving, Texas. Davis is best known for
his work on arcade classics such as Q*bert, Terminator 2:
Judgment Day, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Revo-
lution X. Patterson and Davis previously worked together on
