U.S. Advocacy Days reached record numbers
From April 11-13, members of the International Associa-
tion of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Advocacy
Days group visited 56 U.S. congressional offices. The annual
event sent 32 industry leaders from 25 organizations to
discuss legislative priorities and regulatory issues. Both the
number of congressional meetings held and the number of
registered attendees reached historic highs this year.
“We are incredibly proud of what we were able to
achieve as an industry this week on Capitol Hill,” said Randy
Davis, IAAPA Senior Vice President of Safety and Advocacy.
“The record number of meetings with congressional leaders
from both parties is a testament to the strength of the attrac-
tions industry when we come together to work toward a
common goal.”
Proposed changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
overtime rules, industry safety, unmanned aircraft system
(drones) legislation and regulations, and possible changes to
federal and state minimum wage were discussed with repre-
sentatives of 14 states.
Members also received expert analysis on the global econ-
omy in the manufacturing industry, industry job openings,

and the eventual comeback of the service sector from the
National Association of Manufacturers’ Chief Economist Dr.
Chad Moutray.
IAAPA Advocacy Day groups represented California,
Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Hampshire,
New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota,
Tennessee, Texas, and the District of Columbia. For more

and Attractions (IAAPA) is accepting nominations for 2017
for Second Vice Chair, Facility and Life Director, and Manu-
facturer and Supplier Director. Nominations are due July 15.

Haley Reinhart album

Legendary songwriter, musician, producer, and vision-
ary, Prince, died on April 21 at his home in Chanhassen,
Minn. Prince has sold more than 100 million records and
won seven Grammy
Awards, making him
one of the best selling
artists of all time.
The music icon
was inducted into the
Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame in 2004,
the first year of his
eligibility. Fans paid
tribute to Prince on
TouchTunes jukebox-
es on April 21 and
the most played song nationwide was his 1984 hit, “Purple

first-listen to her sophomore album, Better, on TouchTunes
jukeboxes one week before
it’s official release date. Con-
sidered a favorite on the 10th
season of “American Idol,”
Reinhart made it to the top
three, performing covers of
Elton John’s “Bennie & The
Jets,” Adele’s “Rolling in the
Deep,” and many more.
After that she garnered
recognition for her cover of
Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help
Falling in Love,” which
appeared in an Extra Gum
TV advertisement that has racked up nearly 13 million views
on YouTube. Reinhart begins a cross-country tour this sum-
