LETTERS Loved the cover It is refreshing indeed to see Play Meter deviate from its usual advertising cover extolling the virtues of some factory, their products, and personnel, to run a wonderful family picture of Marty and Lauran Bromley. Not only is the picture a joy to behold, but it brought back memories. No doubt the photo was taken in Honolulu, as shown by the copy of the "Star Bulletin" on the table in back of Marty's chair. This was the first newspaper that we read after being introduced back to civilization when our aircraft carrier, The Intrepid, stopped off in Honolulu for repairs after being a victim of several kamikazes. Needless to say , the picture/ cover in a frame graces the wall of my office. I know that it is similarly displayed in other offices throughout the world. Thanks Play Meter, the picture was enjoyed for three reasons: Marty, Lauran, and the Honolulu "Star Bulletin"! In unattended locations, cus- tomers are willing to change ones and fives , but often when they only have a 10 or a 20 they will not spend it simply because they do not want 40 or 50 quarters. If operators could provide a changer that , for example , re turned two fives , five singles, and 20 quarters for a $20 bill , it would surely encourage patrons to break their larger bills and use the coins for our games . The payout structure should, of course, be operatoradjustable. We certainly have the technology to implement this idea, as proven by the ATM machines which have become so prolific . I realize that such advancements will not be inexpensive ; however, the potential increase to our cash boxes should encourage us to look beyond the initial investment to the years of additional revenue it will provide .
