- DISTRIBUTOR MEETING Atlas welcomes the new year T he Atlas Christmas and New Year's party has become a tradition during December. Veering from the normal meetings held just after the major trade shows, Atlas invites its manufacturer representatives and operator customers for a joyous German feast and an array of gifts. Ed Velasquez won the supreme prize, a coveted Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle donated by Konami. ''I thought I had won the right to buy one!'' he exclaimed of the game that has been called the next Pac- Tom, Jim, Bob, and Stan Ruzicka of J & ~Amusements. Man. Everyone was a winner with a surprise plush toy , many dressed in holiday outfits , supplied by Acme Premium Company. Operators spent much of the time playing new pins from Data East and Williams. Data East's RoboCop features the new solid-state flipper , which operators said was a bonus on an already good game. Williams' Bad Cats follows in the winning tradition we have come to expect from Williams. Video games featured at AMOA were also on display. It looks like' it will capture players of all ages . ''I really like this game, " noted one operator. " I can see that it will appeal to just about everyone." After hearing many complaints about the deplorable condition of the industry, comments seemed to be more positive.
