LETTERS
Gory graphics
We just received one of the new
conversion kits. In over 40 years in
this business, my employees and
myself have never bee n so disap-
pointed in the graphics of a game.
This is the first time I have felt it
necessary to write a letter about it.
The graphics throughout this game
show gross killings with heads popp-
ing off and blood spurting all over.
Our industry is geared towards
young children. Mostofmylocations
are family restaurants ·where this type
of game is banned. I do not feel our
players should be subjected to such
explicit, gory violence. These types
of graphics really give our industry a
BAD IMAGE. I am disappointed that
the video game manufacturers cannot
come up with more innovative ideas
other tha n fighting and killing.
If the manufacturers feel that such
gory graphics are .necessary, there
should be a dip switch option to turn
off the gory scenes.
Thank you for your attention in this
matter. It's time we started working
together to improve the image of this
industry. It looks like you're on the
right track with "Winners Don't Do
Drugs.' '

Touching words
ring true
Although we have neve r met ,
Valerie, I feel that I know a great deal
about you b y just reading your
editorial on the sad loss of your
daughter. I lost a very dear brothe r
many years ago and have not gotten
over the loss yet.
Your words rang so true and so
well-reasoned that I had to tell you
how much they meant to me and, I'm
sure, to all who read them.
Also, I must tell you what a great
job your Chris Caire did on our father
and son business in his June article
("Passing the torc h ... " ).Chris sent
us a few issues of the magazine. We
were impressed and have sent in our
subscriptio n form.
Again, Valerie, thanks for your ex-
celle nt essay on your wonderful
daughter.
God bless her and you.

Disappointed
I was deeply disappointed to open
my June issue of Play Mete r to find
that the photographs taken at the
FA VA show in Orlando, Fla., did not
include one of my staff or product.
My competition's products (coin
pushers) were displayed even though
their sales of these products are far
below ours. In fact, we are the in-
dustry leader in manufacturing and
sales of single coin pushers. T he
Quarterjlash has set an industry stan-
dard for durability and player appeal.
We are a young company and need
the good graces of both the industry
and reputable press sources to help us
reach full potential. We have grown
very rap id ly a nd do have an in-
teresting story to tell. Please give us
a n opportunity to do so.

{Editor's Note: We do our best to
cover all industry events and wish we
could reserve enough space in the
magazine for a picture of every booth
at every show, but that is not possible.
We are aware of your company and
included Quarterflash in the new pro-
ducts section of our November 1988
issue (pg. 128). Your game received
a full column of free space equal to all
the other companies (14) listed that
month. In addition, your machine is
included in our Buyer's Guide section
this month.
We are sure to be seeing you at up-
coming industry events and will stop
by your booth to speak with you and
your staff members.]
