obtain the distributorship. P.C.M. has
placed initial orders for game units

Rock-Ola jukebox filmed
for "American Treaswy"
CBS News visited the U.S. Copyright
Office Ucensing Division August I 4 to
film the I 948 Rock-Oia jukebox cur-
rently on exhibit in the division for a
segment of the new "American Trea-
sury'' series.
According to Nancy McGovern
and Steve Kaufman. assistant pro-
ducers. the spot containing the juke-
box footage is scheduled to air
December 26. I 985. at 3:58 p.m.
The M odel I 428 Magic-Glo phono-
graph filmed for the series was manu-
fadured in I 948 by the Rock-Oia
Manulacturing Corp. II was donated
to the Ubrary o f Congress October 27.

The "American Treasury" series
consists o f approximately I 00 different
one-minute informationa l broadcasts
fo r young viewers for the CBS Televi-

The televised segments focus on
interesting and unusual fads about
people. places. and events in real life
and fiction with each segment based
on materials and information found in
the Ubrary of Congress.
Popular personalities familiar to
the young audience from the worlds of
music. film. sp orts. television. and the
theater will be the narrators of "Ameri-
can Treasury." To date. they include
Olympic boxing champion Mark
Breland. Olympic champion skater
Scott Hamilton. act resses Stephanie
M ills and Ann Reinking. and model
Cheryl Tiegs.

Bally Sente o f Sunnyvale. Califor-
nia . has negotiated with Trivial
Pursuit's merchandisers to develop a
British video game version of this
newest edition based on the Genus I
game.

In the arcade version of Trivial
Pursuit. the player chooses one of four
characters-Baron v on Rightoften.
Cleofactra . Smartacus. and Billy
Genius. The die rolls au!omalically.
and the character moves that number
of squares on a rectangular game
grid. A question appears. and four
successive answer choices follow.
After each question. the player
must hit a button indicating w hether
the answer is right or wrong Points are
earned on the number o f c orrect
responses.
When a player answ ers one o f the
four comer questions correctly. there's
a chance to earn a piece of the pie
and bonus points. The monitor switches
to a theater-like setting. and the
playing character strolls across the
center stage to face a challenging
new question. Four choices again
app ear and correct responses earn
higher point scores. If all four pieces of
pie are earned before the lime runs
out.the player is awarded a bonus and
listed on the high score table.

AAMA opposes
tax reform measures
The American Amusement Machine
Association ( APMA ) has contacted
the chairmen of the Congressional
tax-writing committees to voice the
industry's opposition to several tax
reform proposals now under consider-
ation.
In a letter to Senate Finance Com-
mittee chairman Bob Packwood ( R-
Oregon) and House Ways and Means

Committee chairman Dan Rostenkow-
sld (D-Illinois). AAMA executive direc-
tor Glenn Braswell explained the
elimination of the investment tax
credit and depreciation allowance
would "surely be the final death blow
to the U.S. coin-operated machine
industry."
Braswell stressed that eve n a
stretch-out of the current equipment
depreciation schedule would harm
operators. given the average six-
month life span of an amusement
machine.
Additionally. Braswell stressed the
industry's objection to a prop osal
which would levy an annual tax on all
U.S. manufacturers to help lund an
expanded toxic waste clean-up pro-
gram.

situation given its obvious impact on
product costs and the tact that little. it
any. waste by-product is generated
during the manufacturing o f amuse-
ment machines:· Braswell said
AAMA has joined an alliance o f U.S.
corporations and industry associations
organized to defeat the Superfund tax
vote in Congress.

PAMMA names new
management firm
The Pennsylvania Amusement and
Music Machine Association (PAMMA)
has hired a new management firm.
John Milliron Associates. John Milliron
began the firm in 1979 and has
acquired 25 clients since that lime.
Milliron. with a political background
including being a member of the
House of Representatives. will assume
the title of executive director.
