Committee chairman Dan Rostenkow-
sld (D-Illinois). AAMA executive direc-
tor Glenn Braswell explained the
elimination of the investment tax
credit and depreciation allowance
would "surely be the final death blow
to the U.S. coin-operated machine
industry."
Braswell stressed that eve n a
stretch-out of the current equipment
depreciation schedule would harm
operators. given the average six-
month life span of an amusement
machine.
Additionally. Braswell stressed the
industry's objection to a prop osal
which would levy an annual tax on all
U.S. manufacturers to help lund an
expanded toxic waste clean-up pro-
gram.
" This pro posal w o uld furth e r
exacerbate our c urrent economic
situation given its obvious impact on
product costs and the tact that little. it
any. waste by-product is generated
during the manufacturing o f amuse-
ment machines:· Braswell said
AAMA has joined an alliance o f U.S.
corporations and industry associations
organized to defeat the Superfund tax
vote in Congress.
