Play Meter will improve
with industry
New years always seem to begin with the promise that they will be
better than the years before. Maybe such annual optimism , sometimes
unjustified, is more pronounced in America , where faith in better times is
part of the national character.
The coin-operated amusement industry enters 1986 riding a wave of
optimism that seems justified . The new year need not usher in a boom to
be a vast improvement of 1985, and the news of new or expanded
manufacturing and distributing businesses, the broad acceptance of
recently introduced product, and the apparent end of the post-boom
shake-out are significant indicators of an industry upturn .
We at Play Meter also are beginning the new year optimistically, not
only because we anticipate better times for the industry , but because we
expect Play Meter to become a better magazine in 1986.
Like the industry it covers, Play Meter has endured some difficult
times while adjusting to the post-boom years . And like the industry , we
believe our period of adjustment is just about over.
Our plans for 1986 include improved news coverage , more columns
and features by industry experts , more technical information, and
improvements throughout the magazine to make it more valuable to you
than ever.
You can help us by writing or calling to let us know what you think
about the magazine and the industry. We appreciate all your questions,
comments, and suggestions, particularly on articles appearing in Play
Meter or articles you would like to appear.
We always are eager to learn how we can serve you better because
we know our success depends on you . That's why we are dedicated to
improving Play Meter as an objective source of information to help you
become more successful.
Play Meter's commitment to serving its readers is what attracted me
to the magazine several months ago. And it is that commitment that will
guide Play Meter in 1986, a year in which we all can be successful by
building on the optimism we share.
For regardless of how realistic our new-year expectations are , one
thing is certain : the belief that times will be better greatly increases the
probability that they will.
