North Hudson Equipment Co. Maintaining
High Standards in Sound Boards,Moldings, Etc.
A recent development in the piano
accessory industry, was the reorganiza-
tion of the North Hudson Woodcraft
pany headed by the late Mr. Johannsen
purchased the business from the Breck-
woldt interests and have been continu-
who have been manufacturing the
soundboards and other items for which
the company has been well-known for
many years. Some of these men have
been with the company for 40 years
and are expert in the art of producing
hammer moldings and soundboards.
The steady and increasing demand
for piano parts, according to officials
of the company, has guaranteed steady
employment for several years, which
has attracted the most experienced
craftsmen in that type of work.
Each operation in the factory under-
goes a careful inspection by men who
have been producing piano parts for
a long time and whose expert crafts-
manship is now augmented by the mod-
ern facilities which have been installed
in the plant during the last few years.

Following the recent sudden death of
Claude H. Johannsen, Jr., who was
president of this company, a new set
of officers was elected with Lillian C.
Johannsen, widow of the late president,
as the new president.
It is well-known throughout the pi-
ano manufacturing industry that this
company succeeded the Julius Breck-
woldt & Son organization, which for
many years was conducted by the late
Julius Breckwoldt, his son W. A. Breck-
woldt and his grandson Julius A.

Dolgeville since that time, as well as
maintaining forest preserves in the
Adirondacks several miles north of the
plant where it has been cutting its own
Adirondack spruce and maple as well
as carrying on a reforestation program
to assure plenty of Adirondack spruce
for the soundboards which are manu-
factured by the company, and maple
for the other items, for many years to
come.
The company has maintained and
operates its own sawmill, dry kilns and
extensive manufacturing facilities and
has been fortunate to maintain many
of the selected and trained personnel
