Missing Ivories
Remedy: Today one can purchase
ivories in various shades at supply
houses. When there are only a few
missing, they are not too much trouble
to put on.
First of all (should this instrument
be of recent make and real ivory key
tops) : (a) Select the right shade, place
it on top of the key you are going to
fix, mark it with a piece of chalk, so
that the select one does not get mixed
up with some others: Secondly, (B)
remove the keys. If it is a grand, the
action is to be lifted off the frame.
Just the reverse with the upright, keys
can be removed when fallboard comes
off. This procedure every tuner is
familiar with.

cember 16th and internment was in the
family plot at Spark Hill, Rockland
County, New York.

Remarks
Renewing or replacing an ivory is
not so difficult, as it is to be accurate
in its replacement: Do be careful not
to break the ivory tail. (C) With a hot
iron, the ivory can be taken off, but
I would strongly advise using a thin
chisel, when heading towards the tail
joint.
It is at this point that the exercising
of caution is paramount.
Suggestion
Should you not be able to loosen
the ivory head on first heating, apply
the iron several times and don't have
it too near the tail joint. (D) You are
ready to fit the ivory head. This is a
delicate procedure. Yet, with the proper
tools one can always make a fairly
good job of what he is doing.
Use a fine wood file to make a clean
joint, also the feeling of tail and head
should be absolutely free of bumpiness,
i.e., the entire process of fitting must
be and have the look of smoothness.
Besides, when one is playing, the finger
passes from head to tail without notice,
then you know the job is okay.
In gluing on the ivory head, use Duco
cement. Do not try ordinary glue or
paste. First, size the head with a thin
coat of cement: Do the same on the
wood, then give it plenty of Duco and
press the head down. Let it dry for a
few hours.

W. S. Dryburgh Co. Supply
Division in New Quarters
The following notice has been sent to
all piano supply customers by the W.
S. Dryburgh Co., Wauwatosa, Wis.
"Effective January 1st, 1953, we are
changing from a corporation setup to a
straight company setup. High corpora-
tion taxes and government red tape
make it an additional burden rather
than an asset to be a corporation these
days. We are, therefore, changing to a
straight company which will be known
as the W. S. Dryburgh Company. We
will continue to maintain our three
divisions as in the past . . . Household
Supply, Industrial Supply and the
Piano Supply Divisions. When ordering
or writing, please specify the division
if at all possible.
"Effective, also, January 1st, 1953,
we are moving the Piano Supply Divi-
sion into its own quarters in one of
Milwaukee's Western Suburbs. In the
future, kindly address all mail concern-
ing Piano Supplies to the W. S. Dry-
burgh Company (Piano Supply Divi-
sion) . . . Wauwatosa 13, Wis."

Published by Pratt Read & Co.
Pratt, Read & Co., Irvington, Conn.,
have just published their first volume
of a bi-monthly bulletin entitled "Har-
mony" which is mailed to the homes
of the employees.
Activities at the factory are written
up in detail. In this first edition a
page is devoted to the Christmas party
held for the children of the employees
with candid snapshot illustrations.
There is also a page of sports and
several pages of personalities.
One interesting item is entitled "Con-
tract Signed" which explains that "on
December 23, 1952, a two year con-
tract was signed by union and man-
agement representatives."
Another story reveals that Erling C.
Nord of East Providence, R. I., as-
sumed his new duties as superintendent
of the Kaman division which is a divi-
sion in which the company is manu-
facturing rotor blades and rotor blade
locks for the Kaman Aircraft Corp. of
Windsor Locks, Conn. This work is
carried on in a new addition to the
plant and in no way conflicts or inter-
feres with the piano key and action
production.
The staff of "Harmony" includes
Virginia Hay, Editor; Robert Bullock
Ed La Ville, Charles Nubn and A. D.
Crivelli, Associate Editors; D. P. Mor-
