pamphlet form and distributed to all the
members. It constituted a compendium
of those things undertaken and accom-
plished in behalf of the Music Retailers,
and pointed out specifically the various
membership services including sales
training, a quarterly advertising service,
special bulletins, merchandising and
monthly bulletins, etc.
It also pointed out the interest of the
members in '"National Music Week,"
gave two paragraphs to the government
relations including the Congressional
Dinner and the 0. P. S. Retail Industry
Advisory Committee.
Under legislative services, he pointed
out the splendid work that the commit-
tee did on the excise tax, which resulted
in the House Ways & Means Committee,
who had proposed an increase of 15
per cent in the tax, finally reversing
itself and letting the 10 per cent tax re-
main. Under Music Promotion he gave
a long list of various promotion efforts
which were furnished to the dealers, and
spoke also about the Convention and
Trade Show and their success, and in
conclusion stated: "The successful oper-
ation of a trade association depends upon
no one individual but upon the collec-
tive efforts of the men in whose care its
functions are entrusted. The directives
and policies of the Officers and Directors
of NAMM have been carried out as

ecutive Committee and Annual Meetings,
and the National Association of Musical
Merchandise Manufacturers which held
its annual meeting. In addition to the
other activities on Monday, there was
a meeting of the Trade Practice Com-
mittee at 3 p.m.
On Tuesday, meetings were held by
the National Association of Musical
Wholesalers, National Association of
Sheet Music Dealers, Board of Directors,
and annual meeting, the National As-
sociation of Sheet Music Dealers busi-
ness meeting, and also the Phonograph
Manufacturers Association which held
their annual dinner in the Crystal Room
at 8 p.m.

Limited Price Variety Stores Associa-

Business Outlook". F. L. Thompson,

Elkhart, Ind., and a member of the
N.P.A. Industry Advisory Committee,
talked on "The Production Outlook".
