Veteran will submit to you his papers
for your signature that he is in train-
ing with your store on an approved
program. At any time that he does
not do his work to your supervisor's
satisfaction he may be discharged and
you duly notify the Government Agen-
cy. He may also leave of his own
volition if he wishes.
Careful selection of Veterans' The
Department of Veterans Assistance is
set up in each locality whereby all
Veterans applying for employment are
carefully screened and analyzed so
that they may be recommended for
proper placement. You make a re-
quirement card for the type of person
for which you are looking and you
will find that very careful attention is
given to the person sent to you for
an interview. This saves you many
hours of interviews with applicants.
OPA Grants Increase in
Hardwood Lumber Price
On April 5th the Office of Price
Administrator! ordered an immediate
increase of 7 per cent in prices mills
may charge for hardwood lumber pro-
duced in the South. The increase, aver-
aging $3.35 for 1,000 board feet, was
said to be the minimum required by
law and is authorized to enable mills
to pay the higher costs of production.
Consumers will have to pay the high-
er prices, pending a review of 1945 cost
data, the price agency said.
OPA also gave official notice of an
average increase of $4.60 per 1,000
board feet in mill ceiling prices of
western pine lumber, which goes into
effect immediately.
"This increase is considerably more
than is required by law," OPA stated,
"and is made to stimulate production
of lumber for the housing program."

Direct Columbia Purchases
Magnavox Representatives Attend
Philharmonic Concert During Meeting
James H. Hunter, Vice-President in
Charge of Manufacturing of Colum-
bia Recording Corporation, Bridge-
port, Conn, has announced the ap-
pointment of Robert P. Robinson Jr.,
as Director of Purchases of that com-
pany. In this position, Mr. Robinson
will be responsible for the purchasing
policy of the entire company which
operates factories in Bridgeport, Con-
necticut, Kings Mills, Ohio and Holly-
wood, Cal.
During the past eleven years Mr.
Robinson was the Chief Buyer for the
Remington Arms Co., of Bridgeport,
Conn, a subsidiary of the E. I. Du
Pont de Nemours Co. Previous to that
he was conneceted with the Du Pont
Co. of Wilmington, Del.
Mr. Robinson assumed his new duties
at the Bridgeport office of Columbia
Recording Corp. as of March 1st.
A three day meeting of the Mag-
navox District Sales Managers held

Captain Pierre Boucheron has been
appointed general manager of the
broadcast division of the Farnsworth
Television & Radio Corporation and
placed in charge of Station WGL at
Fort Wayne, Ind., Mr. E. A. Nicholas,
Farnsworth president, has announced.
Captain Boucheron's duties will en-
tail the management of Farnsworth's
Fort Wayne AM station WGL as well
as a proposed FM station, if the li-
cense now pending is granted by the
Federal Communications Commission.
By late spring it is anticipated that
he also will operate Fort Wayne's first
television station to which the experi-.

have been assigned by the FCC.

Frank Freimann, Magnavox Execu-

During the three days the District Sales
Managers spent at the Fort Wayne
