Atom-Smashing
vs
Piano-Playing
he whole world was astounded at the news
of the atom bomb. As usual, the pendulum
swings so far that for a while we foresaw atoms
and atomic energy translated into everything we
do. Certainly this new discovery opens up untold
vistas for mankind, but let's not lose sight of the
eternal verities. We'll bet that when Mr. Jones
of the future drives home in his atom car, or
Mrs. Jones finishes the dishes with her atomic
washer in her atom-heated home, both will head
for the piano for relaxation, pleasure, and the
solace and entertainment only music can give.
And when that day comes, the famous old
names: Conover, Cable, Schiller, Kingsbury,
Wellington, will still be emblazoned on the
fall-boards of the finest in pianos.
Very soon now, we will be able to announce our
great plans for the future. They are as modern as to-
day, but in the quality tradition of the past.
