Chooses Ansley Line
For India Trade
Recently visiting America from In-
dia, Mr. Dharmakumar, head of one of
Bombay's largest trading concerns,
Hirachand & Dharmakumar, devoted
MR. DHARMAKUMAR OF INDIA
part of his time to securing an exclu-
sive selling agency in India for a top
quality line of radio-phonographs, and
has chosen the Ansley line, manufac-
tured by the Ansley Radio Corp., Long
Island City, N. Y., as the product
which he will sell and promote in the
Bombay territory, and d i st r i b u t e
through sub-agents to the other four
trading territories into which India is

divided. Ansley Dynaphones will be
the first and only branded American
merchandise ever handled by Mr. Dhar-
makumar.
As part of an extensive publicity
program, Ansley radios will be placed
in the homes of many distinguished
Princes and well-to-do families on a
30-day free trial — without request!
This 30-day free use of the sets will
be supplemented b"y regular visits of
the service staff to each home, twice
weekly, to thoroughly familiarize the
Indian families with the mechanics
and usage for full enjoyment of the
sets. This, Mr. Dharmakumar, ex-
plained, is necessary because of the
little knowledge of machinery enjoyed
by people in India.
Although radios are widely used
throughout India, their sale is con-
trolled by the Government. Prospec-
tive radio owners must secure a license
from the Government and present it
to the radio sales clerk before a pur-
chase can be made. There are 3 main
broadcasting stations in India, govern-
ment owned, broadcasting Indian and
English music, talks on Government
activities and news and market reports
from Reuters.
India has no facilities for either FM
or television as yet, but short-wave
broadcasts do plajT an important part
in India radio reception. All Ansley
radios being shipped to Mr. Dharma-
kumar will be equipped for 230 volts,
will carry a special short-wave band
especially adapted to reception in that
territory and will be insulated against
the rigors of the Indian Monsoon sea-
son and tropical climate.
Randall Heads
Milwaukee Dealers
The Milwaukee Music Dealers' Asso-
ciation had a re-organization meeting
recently at the Milwaukee Athletic
Club. There were eighteen present.
A definite program was outlined, with
meetings to be held the first Wednes-
day of each month at the Milwaukee
Athletic Club, and from the enthusi-
asm of the members attending, it looks
quite promising for some good work
to be accomplished by these group
meetings. Officers were elected as fol-
lows:
Hugh W. Randall, president of the
J. B. Bradford Co., President; T. R.
Huston, Huston-Baldwin Co., Vice
President; Stanley Schlosser, Treas-
urer; Florian Flanner, Flanner-Haf-
soos Music Co., Secretary.
Every music house in Milwaukee was
represented by the head of the house.
Use of Lead Curtailed
Because the lead supply has become
increasingly critical, permissive uses
for the metal have been curtailed in
newly amended Order M-3 to include
only end products that have been in-
vestigated thoroughly as to their essen-
tiality to the military program and
civilian economy, the War Production
Board said today: *'
The amended order, effective April
1, 1945, lists 64 permissive uses for
lead and eliminates the previous Lists
A, B and C, which covered totally re-
stricted uses, unrestricted uses and
quota percentage restrictions.
