Beasley reported on the progress of the
Association during the past year and Mr.
Mennie in his report pointed out that
membership is 20% greater this year than
last. The treasurers report disclosed the
healthy financial condition of the Associa-
tion with a bank balance of $22,378.61 in
comparison with $26.34 in 1935 when Mr.
Mennie became secretary.
Lawrence H. Selz reported the publicity
activities of his organization in behalf of
the piano industry this year, explaining in
detail the many benefits derived from the
Piano Sales Clinics. He stated that he had

its annual meeting on Sunday evening im-

TRAVELERS EMERGENCY FUND
First meeting was that of the Executive
Committee of the National Piano Travelers
Association on Sunday afernoon July 28th.
Plans for the Jamboree were perfected but
the most important resolution passed was
one proposed by Gordon Laughead, sales
manager of the Story & Clark Piano Co..
for the purpose of creating an emergency
fund to be held intact to be used for the
relief of indigent members either for their
personal aid or for burial purposes in case
of death under distressing circumstances.
This money is to be raised by asking for
subscriptions from members up to $10 and
from manufacturers up to $25. Mr.
Laughead was appointed by President
L. O. Rogers, as chairman of an Emer-
gency Relief Fund Committee, to carry

investigated the proposed idea of having a
contest on photographs of children at the
piano stating that he had been advised
that the best method would be to offer a
substantial prize through some photo-
graphic magazine.
Mr. Selz explained also regarding the
photographs taken by Life Magazine of
persons in various walks of life and uses
of the piano which are appearing in that
