Stepping from Westchestcr society into fame
as a radio and record artist, Annette Hanshaw
attributes much of her recent success to her
recording of "I Ain't Got Nobody and Nobody
"Figaro," a melodic dance novelty, released
recently by De Sylva, Brown & Henderson,
Inc., New York, has made an instantaneous
appeal to the big Eastern dance orchestras, who
are using it on all their programs this Summer.
This song, written by Sidney D. Mitchell and
Otto Motzan, describes the activities of "Fig-
aro, the Greenwich Village barber, who sings
like Scotti." In addition to a powerful melody,
enhanced by a special Arthur Lange arrange-
ment, the number possesses catchy lyrics, giv-
ing it a double "punch."
"Figaro" has been heard frequently on the
radio programs of such dance orchestra leaders
as Vincent Lopez, B. A. Rolfe, and in addition
in such feature presentations as the Palmolive
Hour, Eveready Hour, and in the Wrigley,
General Motors and Mediterraneans programs.

Court actions have been started by J. C.
Rosenthal, general manager of the American
Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers,
against a number of theatres, cabarets and road
houses for infringement on various copyrighted
musical compositions controlled by members of
the society. Mr. Rosenthal also has instructed
his society's representatives in different parts of
the country to check up on Summer resorts
and parks. The more important cases now
before the courts are Glynn Theatres, Inc.,

Cares for Me." Although not her first record,
.Miss Hanshaw's singing of this number, re-
issued by the Triangle Music Publishing Co.,
New York, has come to be considered most
characteristic of her ability in lighter vein. Her
contract with the newly organized Velvet Tone
record concern was signed recently after Her-
man Rose, recording manager, heard her sing
this number. In addition to making Velvet
Tone records, Miss Hanshaw is filling in spare
evenings singing over WOR and a chain of sta-
tions each week and is said to be scheduled
to be starred in a new Broadway musical pro-
duction this Fall according to the latest reports
available.

The New Buckeye Sill Piano Truck is
designed for stair and general handling
of grand and upright pianos.
The centre wheel construction allows the
truck to balance and turn without the
usual lifting of the Truck and the scrap-
ing and marring of the floors.
No lifting is required to place the truck on the center wheels, just push down the bail, or lifting
lever. Hardwood sills, well bolted together, forming a truss, make the platform of the truck suffi-
ciently stiff and rigid to stand the heavy duty that these Trucks are subject to.
Also City Skid Trucks, eight Btyles of End Trucks, Piano Hoists, Covers, and Special Straps.
