(Licensee) reproducing action, which is now in
the course of production. The action is the

Paul Fink, vice-president of George Steck &
Co., returned late last week from a nine weeks'
tour of the country, in the course of which }ie
visited Aeolian dealers and other retailers m
all sections, including the Pacific Coast. :It
was the first time Mr. Fink had been on the
Coast for fourteen years and he expressed his
gratification on being able to renew his ac-
quaintances among the piano merchants west
of the Rockies.
Wherever he went Mr. Fink found much
interest in the Steck grand, with dealers fea-
turing it energetically and successfully. A
substantial number of the instruments have
been placed in schools and other institutions
and are being advertised generously in news-
papers, on billboards and otherwise. The result
has been a demand that has proven very grati-
fying to the officials of the company.
Mr. Fink stated that business conditions gen-
erally appear to be on the up grade, with the
piano business in most sections somewhat
better than for the same season of last year.
In certain localities real prosperity abounds,
while in others the trade situation is somewhat
spotty. But the average is decidedly good.
The Gulbransen-Brunswick music shop, which
has been located for a considerable period in
the Grand Hotel, 1423 Eighth avenue, Rockford,
111., has acquired additional space for showing
its line of instrument.
The New Welte-Mignon (Licensee) Foot-power Reproducing Piano
result of four years of experimental work by
the company's engineers, and has been de-
veloped to meet the most exacting tests on its
fidelity of reproduction of the original inter-
pretation by the pianist who recorded the music
roll.
The action, which has as its basis the De
Luxe pneumatic action, exercises complete
control of the hammer rail, the expression de-
vices being actuated by a constant at all times.
The result is that the dynamic control is equal
to the Welte-Mignon (Licensee) reproducing
action when driven by electric current, giving
a true and faithful reproduction of the pianist's
dynamic scheme as originally caught by the
recording apparatus. Even the slightest nuances
and tonal shadings are reproduced with
the fidelity of the original, as was shown
this week in a first hearing of the action in
the De Luxe recording laboratories in com-
parison with an electric-driven Welte-Mignon
(Licensee) grand.
the reproducing roll is being played. No mat-
ter the strength or weakness of the pumping,
there is no disturbance in the dynamics of the
roll.
The Auto Pneumatic Action Co. has planned
production upon this new action in such a
manner that it will be available to manufac-
turers at a small increase in price over the
regular pneumatic action, so that the complete
piano, equipped with this new action, can be
sold at a comparatively slight advance in the
retail price over player-pianos of the regular
type of corresponding grades, grade of the
piano considered.
Manufacturers who have already examined
and tested the new foot-power Welte-Mignon
(Licensee) action have expressed themselves
as enthusiastic over the results the Auto Pneu-
matic Action Co. has achieved and over the
sales possibilities of instruments equipped with
it, shown by the orders the Auto Pneumatic
Action Co. receives.

Issues a New Catalog
"Your piano will become the treasured pos-
session of a lifetime. Therefore the purchase of
the instrument should be very carefully con-
sidered. First: The piano's tone should be rich
and true—to please the discriminating musician,
and afford correct ear training for the child
learning the art of music. Second: The piano's
case should be artistically proportioned to add
charm and beauty to the home where it will
be placed. Third: The piano should be made
throughout of the highest quality of materials
and by skilled workmen, that it may give years
and years of satisfactory service. The Schmidt-
Dauber piano embodies all of these three vital
essentials."
