MUSIC TRADE REVIEW
It is said that thousands of copies of "On
the Air" were sent in by mail to the South Bend
firm before the number was off the press.

E. R. Ball Appearing
in Legitimate Show
Henry M. Snodgrass, who has been described
as the most popular radio entertainer in Amer-
ica and who achieved national recognition
through the fact that he broadcast from the
Missouri State Prison, has written his first song.
Snodgrass has written the music and Howard
M. Casteel has written the lyrics and the song
is entitled "On the Air." It is a fox-trot, pub-
lished by the South Bend Music Publishing Co.,
Inc., South Bend, Ind., of which Mr. Casteel is
general manager.
It is said that the melody for "On the Air"
was composed while Mr. Snodgrass was serving
a term for attempted robbery. The fact that
his piano playing and his prison term have both
received widespread publicity should make his
first song an active seller.
Mr. Casteel is also the writer of the words
for "In Memoryland," a waltz, the music of
which is composed by A. Franic, and also for
"Maravan," an Oriental fox-trot.

TRAIL-MATE
Ernest R. Ball, well-known composer of bal-
lads, who for many years has appeared as a
vaudeville headliner, has for the first time in
his career appeared on a regular stage as a
feature with the Kolb & Dill musical extrava-
ganza, called "In Politics," which now is ap-
pearing in Pacific Coast cities.
Ernest Ball appears in this show with a
chorus of eight singing and dancing girls and
presents a number of his new and old songs,
including three which he sings himself: "West
of the Great Divide," "Dear Little Home of My
Dreams" and "Mother, Oh, My Mother." Some
of the older numbers that are sung during his
appearance are "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling,"
"Till the Sands of the Desert Grow Cold," "A
Little Bit of Heaven," "Mother Machree" and
"Love Me and the World Is Mine." All these
numbers are published by the firm of M. Wit-
mark & Sons.
Featuring "Delaware"
"Delaware," the waltz published by the Joe
Me Daniel Music Co., of New York City and
New Bern, N. C , is being featured by the
Meyer Davis Orchestra, of Washington, D. C,
and the Gene Rodcmich Orchestra. Chauncey
Parsons and Johnny Adams are singing the
number from the broadcasting stations in Pitts-
burgh territory.
Mills' Chicago Office
Jack Mills, Inc., has opened an office in the
Garrick Theatre Building, Chicago, 111., which
will be under the direction of Willie Horowitz.
It is understood that this is the first of a series
of branch offices contemplated by the Mills
organization. Jack Mills, head of Jack Mills,
Inc., closed negotiations and attended the open-
ing of the new Chicago office, setting the pace
for its activities.
