in Fischer May List
Music for That Instrument Almost Equal to
That for Piano in May Issues of House of
Carl Fischer
The May issues of Carl Fischer, Inc., have
been forwarded to the trade, and include some
important contributions for the pianoforte, vocal
music for bow instruments, harp and saxophone.
Of particular interest is> the addition to the Carl
Fischer Superior Edition of Liszt Hungarian
rhapsody number 12, edited and fingered by
Julius Chaloff. Chaloff has been responsible
for previous arrangements of Liszt composi-
tions, and his work meets the needs of advanced
students and soloists. The publications carry
many helpful footnotes, simplifying difficult
passages with optional fingering, etc. John
Tasker Howard has contributed "Intaglio,
Three Waltzes in Miniature," and Paul Juon
"Five Tone Poems," namely, "Upon a Balmy
Summer Sunday," "A Long Lost Tune," "Eve-
ning Mists," "The Juggler" and "Mazurian
Courtship."
It is interesting to note that the list of com-
positions for saxophone is almost as lengthy as
that for piano. This is an indication that the
popularity of the former is not only increasing
but that the admirers of that instrument are
bent upon perfecting their technic and are en-
deavoring to master worth-while music. The
saxophone numbers, with William Scotti's saxo-
phone arrangements in solo and duet form with
piano accompaniment, include "Homeless Ro-
mance," by Charles Arthur (four parts and
piano), "Romance de Nadir" from "The Pearl-
fishers," by George Bizet (four parts and piano),
and Drigo's "Serenade" (four parts and piano).
In selections for band instruments appears
"Rose Marie," arranged by Rudolf Friml, the
composer of that popular work.
"The Hofbrau Hilarities"
"The Hofbrau Hilarities" will be the name of
the revue that will open May 18 at Jansen's
mid-town Hofbrau, Broadway, New York City.
A well-known team of dancers, a famous night
club floor comedian and twenty principals and
chorus girls will appear in the spectacle. The

"Too Bad Jim" is the title of a new song pub-

New Williams Ballad
Spencer Williams, who is responsible for
"Everybody Loves My Baby" and a great many
other blues and jazz, numbers, has turned his
attention to melody songs and has just had
"Stolen Kisses" released by Tune-House, Inc.
This number incidentally is being used as the
theme song for a "Kiss in the Dark," the Para-
mount feature play of Loew and other theatres.
The lyrics for "Stolen Kisses" are by Henry
Troy.
Charles Jones, proprietor of the Arcade
Music Shop, of Cambridge Springs, Pa., has
announced his intention of adding a third story
to the building in which it is located.
