G. J. Trinkaus Signs
With M. Witmark & Sons
Enters Contract With Publishers for Services
and Compositions Over a Further Term of
Years
George J. Trinkaus has signed a new contract
with M. Witmark & Sons, whereby that firm
will enjoy his exclusive services and composi-
tions for a further term of years. Mr. Trink-
aus has had charge of the arranging depart-
ment for Witmark for over a decade and his
work is well known to musicians in every part
of the country.
Mr. Trinkaus has been a contributor to Wit-
mark's Black and White series and is respon-
sible for some of their instrumental selections,
inc'uding ensemble numbers, orchestral suites,
and piano pieces. Among his latest songs is a
melodious Irish number "On the Road to Bal-
Na-I'ogue," the lyric of which is by J. Kiern
l.rennan.
Now on All Records
The Jack Mills, Inc., song, "Everything is
Hotsy Totsy Now," has been recorded both in-
strumentally and vocally by practically all of
the talking machine record companies. It is
also appearing in word roll form on all player
rolls. It is sung by Van & Schenck on the
Columbia records, by Ukulele Ike on Pathe rec-
ords and by Margaret Young on the Brunswick
records. Besides it is heard frequently in
vaudeville and on the dance floors of the conn;
try, all of which is producing sales.
Together With "The Whole World Is Dream-
ing of Love" in Firm's Active Catalog—
Other Active Sellers of House
Irving Berlin, Inc. has issued a new novelty
called "Suite Sixteen." The number is being in-
troduced in vaudeville and is also heard by
prominent orchestras. This, together with "The
Whole World Is Dreaming of Love," has been
placed in the active catalog of the company and
will be featured by the band and orchestra, pro-
fessional and other departments of the com-
pany. The songs "When You and I Were
Seventeen," "Yearning," "Ukulele Lady," and
Irving Berlin's "Listening" and "All Alone"
continue to lead the Berlin catalog in point
of sales.

THE
Many Saxophone Numbers
in Fischer May List
Music for That Instrument Almost Equal to
That for Piano in May Issues of House of
Carl Fischer
The May issues of Carl Fischer, Inc., have
been forwarded to the trade, and include some
important contributions for the pianoforte, vocal
music for bow instruments, harp and saxophone.
Of particular interest is> the addition to the Carl
Fischer Superior Edition of Liszt Hungarian
rhapsody number 12, edited and fingered by
Julius Chaloff. Chaloff has been responsible
for previous arrangements of Liszt composi-
tions, and his work meets the needs of advanced
students and soloists. The publications carry
many helpful footnotes, simplifying difficult
passages with optional fingering, etc. John
Tasker Howard has contributed "Intaglio,
Three Waltzes in Miniature," and Paul Juon
"Five Tone Poems," namely, "Upon a Balmy
Summer Sunday," "A Long Lost Tune," "Eve-
ning Mists," "The Juggler" and "Mazurian
Courtship."
It is interesting to note that the list of com-
positions for saxophone is almost as lengthy as
that for piano. This is an indication that the
popularity of the former is not only increasing
but that the admirers of that instrument are
bent upon perfecting their technic and are en-
deavoring to master worth-while music. The
saxophone numbers, with William Scotti's saxo-
phone arrangements in solo and duet form with
piano accompaniment, include "Homeless Ro-
mance," by Charles Arthur (four parts and
piano), "Romance de Nadir" from "The Pearl-
fishers," by George Bizet (four parts and piano),
and Drigo's "Serenade" (four parts and piano).
In selections for band instruments appears
"Rose Marie," arranged by Rudolf Friml, the
composer of that popular work.
"The Hofbrau Hilarities"
"The Hofbrau Hilarities" will be the name of
the revue that will open May 18 at Jansen's
mid-town Hofbrau, Broadway, New York City.
A well-known team of dancers, a famous night
club floor comedian and twenty principals and
chorus girls will appear in the spectacle. The

New Novelty Number
"Too Bad Jim" is the title of a new song pub-
lished by Tune-House, Inc., and is a|so a slang
phrase that has just reached Broadway via
Harlem. Like the "Charleston" it was the col-
ored performers who first introduced this saying
to Broadway, which means about the same thing
as "outa luck" did some years ago. This song
number, which Tune-House is using as one of
its Spring "plug" numbers, is by Andy Ra/af
and Edgar Dowell.
Singing "Ukulele Lady"
"Ukulele Lady," which has been quite popu-
lar in vaudeville in recent weeks, has been in-
cluded in the repertoire of the Duncan Sisters
in the musical show "Topsy & Eva." Accord-
ing to the sales reports of Irving Berlin, Inc.,
the publishers, "Ukulele Lady" bids fair to
rival "Seventeen," "Oh, Mabel" and "Yearning"
in popularity.

Spencer Williams, who is responsible for

attention to melody songs and has just had
"Stolen Kisses" released by Tune-House, Inc.
