Peter B. Bacigalupi, Well-Known San
Francisco Music Merchant, Is Dead
Stricken With Heart Disease at the Age of Seventy—New Kohler Industries Representative on
First Trip—George J. Dowling, of the Cable Company, Visiting Local Trade
C A N FRANCISCO, CAL., February 25.—A
number of invitations have been issued by
Sherman, Clay & Co. to friends and customers
to attend the inaugural ceremonies, as broad-
casted, and to hear President Coolidge's speech.
The program begins at 8:15 Pacific'Time, and
arrangements are being made to accommodate
a large crowd at Sherman, Clay & Co.'s head-
quarters, Kearny and Sutter streets.
KPO
will be the only San Francisco station in the
Nation-wide hook up, and Sherman, Clay & Co.
will treat its guests to the program, as re-
ceived by the Super-heterodyne, which needs no
aerial. Oakland will also broadcast the in-
augural speech.
President of Schumann Piano Co. Here
W. M. Van Matre, president of the Schumann
Piano Co., has been here for several days, call-
ing on the trade and making his headquarters
withe Hauschildt Music Co. Henry Hauschildt
is agent for the Schumann piano in San Fran-
cisco and in Oakland.
Pays Brief Visits to the Trade
James A. Stitt, representing the National
Piano Co., has been making a short visit to
San Francisco.
Lasher May Remain in the East
For some years past P. H. Lasher has trav-
eled through the Northern territory for the Q
R S Music Co. out of Coast headquarters in
San Francisco. Mr. Lasher, who is now cov-
ering his territory, will leave for Chicago when
he gets to Salt Lake. There is a rumor, which,
however, lacks confirmation, that Mr. Lasher
will be assigned to an Eastern post.
Several of the leading music houses have
windows featuring Q R S music rolls. Out of
compliment to the O. R S Girl, Sherman, Clay
& Co. have a "Girl" window, showing Q R S
rolls and sheet music, all to be obtained on
these rolls. With two exceptions the sheet
music shown has girls on the title pages, one
being Sherman, Clay & Co.'s song success 1
"That's My Girl." Of the two exceptions one
is the beautiful lyric, based on Lemar's famous
Andantino in B Flat, and published by Villa
Moret, a local firm, which has supplied several
successes for the Q R S rolls.
Plan Extensive Mexican Trip
The Wiley B. Allen Co. is preparing to wel-
come two distinguished guests.
George J.
Dowling, president of the Cable Company, now
in Los Angeles, is coming here next week and
his annual visit is always a gala occasion at
Wiley B. Allen headquarters here. C A. Erics-
son, president of Ludwig & Co., is expected on

C. A. Ericsson will stay here for three days,

One of the Old-Timers Passes
The end came very suddenly to Peter B.
Bacigalupi, one of the veteran members of the
music trade, whose place of business was at
111 Golden Gate avenue. The deceased, who
was seventy years of age, died almost instantly
in the street of heart trouble last Saturday
afternoon when in apparently good health. For
years Mr. Bacigalupi dealt in automatic and
electric pianos, as well as organs and Q R S
rolls. He was one of the earliest phonograph
dealers in San Francisco. The late Mr. Bacig-
alupi is survived by a widow and four adult chil-
dren. The family home is at San Rafael.
New Kohler Industries Representative Leaves
In order to introduce Walter A. Lund, who
will be in the Pacific Northwest for the Kohler
Industries, Beeraan P. Sibley, Coast manager
for the concern, has left for Portland and Se-
attle with Mr. Lund to initiate him into the
work in that section of the country.

BOSTON, MASS., February 24.—Harry M. Curtis,
of the Harry M. Curtis Co., Inc., Lynn, who has
been in the piano business in that city for more
than thirty years, has been elected vice-presi-

A N important event in the Bronx last week
• ^ ^ important at least to the members of the
105th Field Artillery, was the presentation to
that organization of an Estey piano by George
W. Gittins, president of the Estey Piano Co.
The presentation was made in the Armory of
the 105th Field Artillery, 166th street and
Franklin avenue, New York City, and the piano
was received in behalf of the regiment by Lt.-
Col. Hines, who accepted the instrument with
a very gracious speech, appreciating the gen-

erosity of the Estey Piano Co., and compli-
menting Mr. Gittins on the tremendous piano-
building industry he had founded in the Bronx.
The entire regiment was assembled for the
purpose of receiving the instrument, and the
photograph appearing with this article shows
the piano being turned over to Lt.-Col. Hines
by Mr. Gittins, who was escorted to the plat-
form by a special Color Guard of Honor of
the regiment, which is also seen in the accom-
panying picture.
