"Lady of My Cigarette"
Proving a Big Success
Featured by Dan Gregory Orchestra, Which
Is Enthusiastic Over Number—Melody a
Turkish Novelty
Among the orchestras featuring the novelty
fox-trot, "Lady of My Cigarette," released by
Phil Ponce Publications, is the Dan Gregory

manager for Dunkerley & Co., 641 Main street,
this city. In his new capacity Mr. Love will
sell the Ampico, Fischer and Franklin pianos
and also the Knabe and Kranich & Bach pianos
which the Dunkerley house handles. Before
being connected at Bamberger's Mr. Love had
been identified with such New York houses
as Hardman, Peck & Co., Aeolian Co. and
Frederick Looser & Co., Brooklyn.
New Thematic Circular
Sherman, Clay & Co. has issued a thematic
circular carrying the title "Songs Worth Sing-
ing." These numbers have all been shown as
of proven worth, while included in standard
lists have both lyrics and music that has wide
appeal. The numbers include "My Dearest
Prayer," by H. J. Tandler; "Little Northern
Window," words by Ed. Teschemacher and
music by Anthony Dare; a Charles Wakefield
Caduian musical setting to John Steel's "My
Sweetheart of Paradise," and "Enough to
Know," words by Francis T. Clark and music
by Elizabeth Ogden.
Appear on Many Programs
Orcliestra. This musical combination, which is
one of the most popular in Eastern territory,
is enthusiastic over this new song and dance.
The melody of the number is described as a
Turkish novelty and there are some indications
that this issue will be the forerunner of an
Oriental deluge.
For a song that has only been in the hands
of the orchestras for a few short weeks "Lady
of My Cigarette" has been more than promis-
ing. Phil Ponce, head of the publishing firm
which is issuing the number, describes it as
"the tune they walk a mile to hear," linking
up the song with the well-known cigarette
slogan.
A. G. Love With Dunkerley
PASSAIC, N. J., August 16.—A. G. Love, who
for the past three years has been engaged as
floor manager of the piano department of L.
Bamberger & Co., Newark, has been made sales
"Heart-broken Rose" and "Play Me Slow,"
two popular numbers from the catalog of the
A. J. Stasny Music Co., Inc., continue to make
frequent appearances on the programs of many
of the leading orchestras. Both songs are fox-
trots; the first had its original introduction in
England and the latter, played by the Paul
Specht Orchestra here, is being included in his
programs during the current London appear-
ance of his orchestra.
Buys Ross Catalog
The well-known Christian Science Catalog of
Songs by Frances Porter Ross has been pur-
chased by Harold Flammer, Inc., 57 West Forty-
fifth street, New York City. This brings to
the Flammer catalog the following celebrated
Christian Science songs, "My Pilot," "I'll Go
Where You Want Me to Go," "Enough to
Know," "Thoughts," "All's Well" and "Be
Strong."
The Century Music Pub. Co. has forwarded
to its many merchants a special order blank
in which Standard Study Books, Century's Ele-
mentary Instructors, and several other products
are quoted at substantial reductions.

"Dream House" Dedicated
to John Charles Thomas
New Marks Ballad by Composer of "When You
Look Into the Heart of a Rose" to Be Sung
by Well-known Artist
Women cannot be described as important fac-
tors in contributing successful songs, although
there are a number of cases on record where
their compositions have been internationally ac-
cepted. They have contributed some of the
biggest successes, but only a small proportion of
all of the successes.
An instance of an achievement by the fair
sex in this direction is the writer of "When
You Look Into the Heart of a Rose," Miss
Florence Methven, who, although only in her
twenties, is a very capable pianist and has a
natural talent for composing. Her most recent
effort is "Dream House," described as a fan-
tastic love ballad.
"Dream House," although only recently ac-
cepted for publication by the Edward B. Marks
Music Co., has been selected by John Charles
Thomas as one of the features of his repertory
in his forthcoming concert tour. In appreciation
the publisher has dedicated the number to Mr.
Thomas and the frontispiece of the first edition,
just off the press, contains a facsimile of the
following letter of praise written by Mr. Thomas
to Miss Methven: "Your love song, 'Dream
House,' has just come and I hasten to con-
gratulate you and thank you for your thought
in dedicating it to me. I am sure to have great
success with it."
New Chappell-Harms Songs
Among the new songs added to the catalog
of Chappell-Harms, Inc., are "My Thoughts of
You," words by Dorothy L. Rosamonde and
music by Tilden Davis; this number has
already appeared on Victor records. Percy
Edgar has contributed the words and Charles
Ancliffe the music for "Someday in Somebody's
Eyes," and Alma Troon and John Morrow are
co-authors of "The Sweetest Call." Eric Coates
has given the musical setting to "I Heard You
Singing," by Roy Ben Barrie, as well as "Sea
Rapture" to the words of Emeric Hulme Bea-
man. Herman Lohr appears with two new songs,
"What a Wonderful World It Would Be" and
"Waiting Alone." "Over the Waters Blue" is
described as a gondola song, with words by
Dena Tempest and music by Robert Coningsby
Clarke. Other titles are "Summer Highland
Days," "Home, Dear Home," "One Little
Dream of Love," and Dorothy Forster's latest
ballad success, "Love's First Kiss," the words
of which are by Edward Lockton.
"No Other Girl" Opens
"No Other Girl," described as a light, tuneful
and comic musical comedy, with a book by the
late Aaron Hoffman, lyrics and music by Bert
Kalmar and Harry Ruby, recently opened at the
Morosco Theatre, New York City. Eddie Buz-
zell, of "The Gingham Girl" fame, and Helen
Ford occupy the stellar roles, and both will
probably appear on Broadway in the present
vehicle for many, many months. The show has
at least two outstanding hits and three other
numbers that shall be heard frequently during
the coming season. They arc "Doing the Town,' :
"No Other Girl," "A Birdie Flew Away From
the Nest," "Honduras" and "After the Curfew
Rings." Waterson, Berlin & Snyder publish
the music.
