Feist Number Featured
in Philadelphia Stores
The Leo Feist, Inc., song, "The Pal That I
Loved Stole the Gal That I Loved," is rapidly
achieving the distinction of being one of the
biggest counter sellers. Although this new-
song by Ed. Nelson and Harry Pease has only
been receiving publicity for a short period, the
response from music purchasers has exceeded
expectations.
"The Pal That I Loved Stole the Gal That
I Loved" had its first popularity in Boston,
shortly thereafter it became one of the outstand-
ing hits in Buffalo, following which it repeated

its sales performances in Philadelphia. In just window dressed by the S. S. Kresge store in
a few more weeks it doubtless will be one of that city. The Kresge sales of the number
have been quite large and other dealers in
Philadelphia likewise report the number's ac-
tivity.

uous place in their stores. Not only are they
attractive but they add prestige to the establish-
ment.
It might be remarked that it is not always
the window that requires the most work that
wins the trophy. Some of the simplest window
arrangements have been successful in previous
contests. Their design proved valuable sales
creators and that, of course, is one of the prime
requisites of a commercial display.
Every contestant's window is given thought-
ful attention by the judges, and while decisions
in some cases prove difficult every angle of the
window's possibilities is given consideration.
Besides the possibility of winning a cup the
dealer taking part in such a contest will find
the window showing well worth while.

ing Rapid Hold and Demand Is Growing
"In the Garden of To-morrow," which Chap-
pell-Harms, Inc., has been featuring for the past
few months, is one of the biggest successes
this house has ever issued.
According to the sales department of this
publishing house "In the Garden of To-mor-
row" is just hitting its stride and with the wide
publicity it is constantly receiving it bids fair
to rival the sales of "The World Is Waiting for
the Sunrise," "Roses of Picardy" and other
Chappell-Harms successes.
Success Over Night
A song hit makes a songwriter overnight
and an unusual orchestra arrangement will also
make the arranger. Merle T. Kendrick, the ar-
ranger of 1595 Broadway, New York City, ar-
ranged "Lady of My Cigarette." Since that
time his services have been in demand.

POPULAR
"Roses of Picardy" and "The World Is Wait-
ing for the Sunrise," two ballad successes in
the catalog of Chappell-Harms, Inc., continue
to maintain their hold on popular favor.
Recently the Rivoli Theatre, New York City,
had a Josiah Zuro special presentation of "Roses
of Picardy," which proved so successful that it
was held over for a second week. The artists
rendering the song during the two weeks of this
special showing were Miriam Lax and Adrian
Da Sylva. The staging alone of this presenta-
tion cost several thousand dollars, and gave it
wide publicity.
