Being Offered by That House
The Gene Rodemich Music Publishing Corp.,
150 West Forty-sixth street, New York City,
lately organized to do a music publishing busi-
ness, will start operations with the following
catalog: "Shanghai Shuffle," "Honolulu" and
"Barcelona," fox-trots, and "One Stolen Kiss,"
waltz-ballad.
George I). Lottinan, Eastern manager of the
firm, states that the concern's publications will
be exploited by means of a vigorous trade and
orchestra campaign. He declared: "We are
satisfied that our catalog will stand the test.
As a new enterprise, we have picked carefully
and, we hope, wisely, several numbers that we
believe will justify our entrance into a highly
competitive industry."
Ten thousand of the country's most promi-
nent orchestra leaders have already received
orchestrations of the numbers previously men-
tioned, as have the leading radio combinations.
Paul Whiteman a Hit
Paul Whiteman got off to a good start on
his concert tour when he opened to a packed
house in Cumberland, Md. Playing the Cumber-
land Theatre, the Jazz King stood them up
four deep in the orchestra and balcony despite
bad weather. Whiteman gave a two-and-a-half
hour concert, featuring the "Rhapsody in Blue
and the Suite," written for him by the late
Victor Herbert. Several bows were in order
at the finish, after which the director had to
beg off with a speech. Playing the Lyric The-
atre, Baltimore, later, Whiteman played to
capacity.
Henry Teller in Portland
PORTLAND, ORE., October 2.—The Portland sheet
music dealers were visited during the past week
by Henry Teller, representing a number of cat-
alogs. Mr. Teller, who is making an extended
tour of the country, reports receiving good
orders at all points and said his leading sellers
during his trip were "San" and "Tessie Stop
Teasing Me," both L. 13. Curtis Co. publications.
