MUSIC
TRADE
REVIEW
Whittle called attention to the progress of
Dallas from a musical standpoint, with particu-
lar reference to the observance of Music Week
last Spring. Plans have been completed, he
stated, to repeat the massed piano concert,
which was a feature of the week's program.
Mr. Whittle took occasion to thank the Dallas
newspapers especially for the efforts to promote
the cause of music. He also congratulated the
Dallas Music Commission for its successful
direction of musical activities.
Plans were discussed to assure adequate audi-
ences for as many of the musical attractions
booked for Dallas as possible. It was sug-
gested that those members of the Association
who could mention in their regular advertising
the forthcoming attraction, when any tie-up of
prestige for instruments or records used by the
artist presented itself.

both manufacturing and wholesale merchandis-
ing. He has been connected with the piano
business for approximately twenty years, and at
one time traveled extensively in the interests
of the Standard Pneumatic Action Co. as player

equipped to assist dealers in their player-piano
problems as well as their merchandising efforts.
New Standard Music Roll
Receiving a Wide Response
Lost Motion Attachment
Play-A-Roll, Recently Put Out, Proves to Be
Steady and Persistent Seller With the Dealers
Who Handle It
is growing steadily on account of the satisfaction it has
given during the last two years in many of the highest
grade reproducing pianos in the country.
James C. Fonner, sales manager of the Stand-
ard Music Roll Co., 29 Central avenue, Orange,
N. J., recently stated that the new Standard
Play-A-Roll has met with wide response in trade
circles. This hand-played word roll, carrying
some new features, is being marketed in a
mannier that has added substantially to its sales.
Not only is the roll a new type of recording,
but its manufacture in all details undergoes the
closest scrutiny with the result that a roll of
much merit is being produced. The new box
in which the rolls are placed has added to the
attractiveness of these offerings. They lend
themselves readily to display purposes of all
kinds and some very effective windows have
been the result.
In the reproducing piano it eliminates all lost motion
between the action and mechanism, permits soft pedal
movement adjustment to the lightest pneumatic and
does away with key shifting and key dipping entirely.
