Cadman Given Ovation
by City of Los Angeles
Widely Known American Composer Given
Unique Honor—Great Popularity of This
Composer's "At Dawning"
The city of Los Angeles has arranged an
ovation to Charles Wakefield Cadman, the well-
known American composer. Mrs. Grace Mabee
is the dominating factor in these plans. This,
undoubtedly, establishes an American precedent
and is an idea that should be furthered by other
cities. Of course, in the case of Cadman his
internationally known works bring him suffi-
cient honors. In other cases composers of
works of high merit which might not have quite
the popular appeal could receive, and should
receive, additional honors in this or some other
manner. It may be remarked here that Charles
Wakefield Cadman's "At Dawning" is said to
be featured at more motion picture houses and
programmed through more radio stations than
any song by an American composer.
Rainbow Corp. Hits
The Rainbow Music Corp., New York City,
has four active numbers in its catalog, "Before
I Go Home," " H a ! H a ! Don't Make Me
Laugh!", "Red Hot Mamma," and "I'm Haunted
by That Swanee River Song." These numbers
have been broadcasted frequently by a number
of radio stations and have brought quick re-
sponse from the fans.
from Philadelphia that more than 100 Stanley
theatres throughout Pennsylvania are to also
feature the song for a solid week. The A. J.
Stasny Music Co., Inc., is the publisher of this
number.
Feature "Heart-Broken Rose"
Milt Hagen, writer of "Heart-Broken Rose,"
the new overnight fox-trot ballad hit, has just
received word from Philadelphia that this num-
ber is to be featured for a solid week by the
Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra of sixty
pieces, which is a most unusual plug for a song
of the popular type. Word was also received
Wendell Hall Radio "Hits"
Jack Mills, Inc., has the publishing rights to
three highly popular radio songs, by Wendell
Hall, the sorrel-topped music-maker, and favor-
ite of radio fans. The numbers are "It Looks
Like Rain," "Brother, You've Got Me Wrong"
and "Light-House Blues."

STEINWAY
One of the contributory reasons why the Steinway
Piano is recognized as
The World's Standard
may be found in the fact that since its inception it has
been made under the supervision of members of the Stein-
way family, and embodied in it are certain improvements
found in no other instrument.
It is not merely -the combination of wood, felts and
metals, but it is the knowing how to combine them in
order to produce the highest musical results which has
made the Steinway the piano by which all others are
measured.
THE STEINWAY
is a work of creative art which stands alone—unquali-
fiedly the best.
