From Vly S. Hill, managing director of the
atres in Troy and Albany, N . Y., Cluett &
Sons, who sponsored two New York State ap
pearances of "Sonia's Song" with David
Pesetzki as the featured artist, was received the
following letter: "I wish to attest to th e
great success of 'So nia's Song' wit h Mr. Davi d
Pesetzki in a personal appearance at our Troy
Theatre, Troy, N . Y., and our Mark Strand,
Albany, N. Y ., usin g the Duo-Art piano with
grea t effect. Thousands were deli ghted at each
performance with this wonderful presentation
a nd I, personally, consider it one of the greatest
an d most dignified novelt ies that I have had
th e pleasure of liste nin g to in many years. You
will have no tr o ubl e makin g productions in our
theatres if they are 50 per cent as entertaining
an d enjoyable as 'Sonia's Song.'''

Co. This plan, worked out in detai l, particularly

The story was told by Lou is J. H eindl, of
th a t company, while in New York last week.
He said a young man accompanied by his wife
('a rn e into the :"foses s tore to purchas e a
medium-priced upri ght and suddenly the pros
pect's eyes li ~h t e d on a Steinway baby grand.
"Is there a Charles Steinway connected with
the peop le who make that piano?" asked the
customer. Mr. Heindl stated that th ere was.
"Then I'm goin g to buy that piano," said the
custom er, "because Steinway a nd I fou g ht to
gether in France and I made up my mind to
buy a St einw ay if I ever did ge t a piano."
Furth er questioning developed th e fact that
th e cus tom e r had served in the same outfit w ith
Charle s F. M . Steinway, who was a m emb er of
Ambulan ce Company No. 30 in the Fifth Divi
sion. Durin g- one of the driv es thr ee wounded
men w ere seen lying in a sh ell-sw ep t ro a d ahead
of the co mpan y and volunteers werc call ed for
to bl'in g them in. Mr. Stein way was one of
the fir s t to volunteer a nd he a nd the Ric hmond
man performed th e dangerous task successfully.

store has bee n recently opened her r by George
R. Sutton, formerly in the music business at
Lufkin. The store will b e situated in the Polk
County Enterprise office buildin g.

as a mo s t complete music roll depa r tm en t. The
Victrola department is also bein g renov ated
and redecorated, as are the ge neral offices wh ich
are in the r ear of the main wareroom .
Mr. Gross, who has been in the mus ic busi
ness for some time, has built up a very s uccess·
ful foll owing in this cit y and stated to a repre
sentative of Th e Review this wee k th a t the
business done this yea r shows a ve ry pro
nounced increase over previous yea rs. The
store a t the prese nt time is under th e manage
ment of Carl J. Rest, who has had a w ide ex pe
rience in retail merc handisin g.
