STUDENTS FIND MUSIC SOOTHING
Dartmouth Organ Recitals Help Them "Exam"
Week—"Parade of Wooden Soldiers" Goes
Strong Along With Classic Composers
Herbert Edward Marks, son of the music pub-
lisher and a student in the junior class at Dart-
mouth, sends an interesting report of a new
departure in the college routine which is most
interesting to music lovers and which will no
doubt be emulated by the leading institutions
of learning throughout the land. He states that
at Dartmouth they have a half hour of organ
music in the chapel every afternoon of the
"exam" week. The faculty has found that the
psychological effect on the tired brains and
nerves of the studeiits is very beneficial and
(he organ recitals are always well attended.
It is also stated authoritatively that Leon
Jessel's world-famous composition, "Parade of
the Wooden Soldiers," is now a prime favorite
at these recitals in such good company as that

NEW COPYRIGHT BILL IN CONGRESS
Tincher Bill Would Apply Principles of Inter-
national Copyright to Works of American
Composers and Authors
WASHINGTON, D. C, February 10.—Another hill
to amend the copyright law so as to enable the
United States to become a member of the Inter-
national Copyright Union has been introduced
in Congress, Representative Tincher, of Kansas,
being the author of a measure to that effect.
A similar bill was introduced two or three weeks
ago.
There is persistent and fast-gaining agitation
for amendment of our copyright laws so as to
protect authors and composers abroad, the
International Copyright Union providing such
protection through reciprocative action. Under
the terms of the bills now in Congress, foreign
authors and composers would secure protection
for their works in the United States to the
same extent as American authors and com-
posers, provided that the foreign country in
each case extended similar protection to Ameri-
can works.
