EFFECTIVE SHEET MUSIC WINDOWS
A SUCCESSFUL MUSIC DEMONSTRATOR
Watti Watkins, Manager of Kresge Store in
Kansas City, Enjoys Wide Reputation
Among the best known managers of syndi-
cate stores which handle sheet music is Watti
Watkins, who is de-
scribed as one of the
most successful sheet
music demonstrators in
the Middle West and
who holds the position
of manager for the S.
S. Kresge Co. in its
Kansas City store. Mr.
Watkins has been for
over seven years in
charge of the Kansas
Watti Watkins
City store and during
all this time has taken particular interest in the
sheet music departinent, so much so that the
demonstration of songs in that establishment is
known among the publishers as one of the most
enterprising and successful in the sheet music
field. Mr. Watkins himself often sings the
songs behind the counter and while a lot of
music publishers' salesmen say he is "good,"
the fact that he is often booked to do a vaude-
ville stunt shows that they have not nattered
him for business reasons. In his public appear-
ances he is programmed as "Kansas City's Own
Popular Ragtime Singer."
MUSIC OF "TROUBLES OF 1922"
"Troubles of 1922," the new Shubert produc-
tion featuring Georgie Jessel and the Courtney
Sisters, which recently opened in Chicago, are
using the following numbers from the Jack
Mills, Inc., catalog: "Deedle Deedle Dum,"
"Lovesick Blues," "Dear Old Southland," "When
You and I Were Young Maggie Blues" and
"Snap to a Pretty Melody."

PLAYING "KITTENJON THE KEYS"
"Croix de Guerre" Presented to Leo Feist
sented him with a substantial and weighty cellu-
loid and beribboned medal, of which a reproduc-
tion is shown herewith, he met the situation
promptly by having it pinned on his bosom.
Phil Kornheiser presented the "Croix de Guerre"
with dignity and appropriate remarks that Mr.
Feist responded to in kind. Mr. Feist was the
host at the party in celebration of his twenty-
fifth business anniversary and naturally had to
be polite, but to ask a man to wear a medal of
the size presented to him is demanding hard
labor.
One line on the medal tells the story: "He's
Still a Glutton for Punishment." If he wears
the medal that in itself will prove the correct-
ness of the statement. However, the sentiment
was there and the presentation proved one of
the bright spots of the celebration.
Jack Mills, Inc., has taken over the song
"Kiss Mama, Kiss Papa," from the catalog of
Jerome H. Remick & Co. This number is by
Al Herman and George Fairman.
Among the songs played by Vincent Lopez
and his Pennsylvania Hotel Orchestra, now
playing at the Palace Theatre, New York, is
the Zez Confrey composition, "Kitten on the
Keys." Mr. Lopez, who is an extremely capable
pianist, provided a novel and clever setting for
the rendition of this piano classic.
TWO NEW_FEIST SONGS
Among the new songs released by Leo Feist,
Inc., are "The Star Spangled Nights in Dixie-
land" and "Somewhere in a Cottage for Two."
