M. J. Kortlander Seeks to Prevent Further Sales
of "Crazy Blues"
IT MUST BE
Max J. Kortlander recently applied to the
Supreme Court of White Plains, N. Y., for an
injunction to restrain Perry Bradford, the pub-
lisher and writer, from producing and selling
copies of the song "Crazy Blues," claiming that
he purchased the rights for the song in 1918,
under the title "Wicked Blues." Thirteen manu-
facturers of talking machine records are also
defendants.
The defendants entered a demurrer. They
hold that as the song was not published after
the lapse of a limited time the author retained
his rights and could publish the number under a
different name.
