cess in Short Time
Music Lovers Hail Opening of Tuneful Musical
Comedy From Pens of Allan Woolf, Ballard
MacDonald and Sigmund Romberg
"Dear Eyes," from the pen of Fred H. Grey,
published by Carl Fischer, is being programed
by a long list of concert artists, including Royal
Dadmun, Ernest Davis, George Greene, Fred
Patton, Earle Tuckerman, George Reimherr, and
others. This number has been arranged as a
fox-trot by M. L. Lake and is proving a favorite
with orchestra leaders.
"Home Again Blues," the new song by Irving
Berlin and Harry Akst, is apparently one of
the songs that can be described as a "quick sue-
A new musical comedy entitled "Love Birds"
had its initial opening in Providence, R. I., and,
according to schedule, will shortly appear on
Broadway. The Providence critics" apparently
think well of this new offering. Among other
tilings gleaned from the newspapers of that city
are the following: "Reception easily the most
enthusiastic that has greeted any play in
months"; "Is the top-line of the shows of this
kind that have appeared here recently"; "A rush
of laughter, dancing and singing."
Allan Woolf wrote the book, Ballard Mac-
Donald is responsible for the lyrics, and Sig-
mund Romberg, composer of "Maytime," "The
Magic Melody," and other melodious light
opera scores, composed the music.
Among the numbers which on the opening
night appeared particularly alluring, according
to reports, were "Two Little Love Birds," "A
Little Dream That Lost Its Way," "Miss O'Hara
From Bokara," "The Trousseau Incomplete"
and "Fat-Fat-Fatima." M. Witmark & Sons
publish the score of the new comedy.

the publishers, has records showing that the
advance orders on this number are heavier than
those of any song in recent months. Practically
all the talking machine and player roll manufac-
turers have made special records of this novelty
and the advertising department of Irving Berlin,
Inc., is featuring it strongly.
When the new Shubert theatre, the Am-
bassador, opens on Forty-ninth street, west of
Broadway, New York, it will house, according
to present arrangements, the musical comedy
"The Rose Girl." This musical show is the
work of Wm. Cary Duncan and Dr. Anselm
Goetzel. M. Witmark & Sons are the publishers.
"Spread Yo' Stuff" is the title of a new novelty
number recently issued by the Triangle Music
Co., New York.
"I Lost My Heart to You," the ballad fox-
trot recently purchased by Jack Mills, Inc., from
the Robert Norton Co., is being given some
unusual publicity by its new owners.

E. F. BITNER SAILS FOR EUROPE
E. F. Bitner, general manager of Leo Feist,
Inc., sailed for Europe early last week on the
S.S. Rotterdam. Mr. Bitner will negotiate mat-
ters of vital business importance in both London
and Paris.
