MUSIC PUBLISHERS TO BANQUET
National Association Will Hold Annual Dinner
at Hotel Astor on June 14
The annual banquet of the Music Publishers'
Association of the United States will be held on
the evening of June 14 at the Hotel Astor, New
York, according to the announcement just for-
warded by E. T. Paull, secretary of the Associa-
tion. Among the matters to be discussed at the
annual convention of the Association are the
following:
The overcharging by express companies on
small packages, making the tariff on same far
in excess of the mail rate.
How to obviate unjust discrimination against
sheet music publishers by the parcel post laws
on packages weighing four pounds and less, as
per recommendation made at last meeting.
The new Canadian Copyright Bill and the
royalties to be paid on mechanical instrument
companies. The publishers will be asked to
endorse the recommendation that this matter be
referred to the Society of Authors, Composers
and Publishers for attention.
The advisability of continuing membership in
the Music Industries Chamber of Commerce,
one of the most important factors in the music
trade to-day. Mr. Bittner, a director in the
Chamber, will make a report on this subject, and
Vice-president Witmark will supplement this by
timely endorsements.
Items of interest which may develop in the
meantime. Any member who has anything of
general interest to the Association in mind is
invited to speak up.
A report will be made by one of the members
on the subject of a rational basis of establishing
the inventory values of plates, copyrights, etc.

Circles—Big Advertising Campaign
The Robert Norton Co. is making a big sales
drive on its song, "Fooling Me," in trade circles.
Much advertising material is being placed in the
hands of the dealers and jobbers and special ad-
vertisements are appearing in the daily papers
of 300 towns and cities.
Leo Friedman, general manager of the com-
pany, is making a road trip and taking an active
part in the drive, and the Chicago office of the
company is extensively covering Middle West
territory.
The recently opened offices in the Loop End
Building, in Chicago, are in charge of James
Altiere and A. Friedman.
The Johnson Music Co., Washington, Ind.,
will move into the Bakoes Building in the im-
mediate future.
