Plan for National Player-Piano Week
Committee Organized This Week to Develop Plans for the Holding of a National Player-Piano Week in October—
Definite Advertising Campaign to Promote Both Wholesale and Retail Sales a Feature
of the Plan—Manufacturers Urged to Support the Movement
A definite move toward establishing a Na-
tional Player-Piano Week some time during the
month of October was made this week when a

The campaign will be promoted through trade
paper advertising and publicity letters from
manufacturers to dealers, circulars from dealers
to c u s t o m e r s,
newspaper adver-
tising, m a i l i n g
f o l d e r s , let-
ters and literature
and window dis-
plays stimulated
by a cash prize
contest. A spe-
cial effort is to be
made to build up
mailing lists »pf
dealers. Forms of
letters and print-
ed matter will be
furnished to deal-

The exact date of Player-Piano Week has
rot yet been determined, as it has been thought
best to consult the largest possible number of
members of the industry who are expected to be-
come interested in the move before announcing
it. Already all those who have been approached
on the matter have been enthusiastic, especially
R. B. Aldcroftt, Chairman
general committee was organized composed of
men devoted to the welfare of the trade at large,
tor the purpose of stimulating interest in the
project and laying before the manufacturers of
pianos, player-pianos, player actions, music rolls

and supplies a definite plan of campaign which
will be of material benefit to all of them as
well as piano and player dealers. The commit-
tee as organized is as follows:

A definite program for promoting both
wholesale and retail sales of player-pianos
throughout this week has been prepared.
Letters have been sent out to manufacturers of
pianos, player-pianos, player actions and music
rolls giving detailed information regarding the
plans of the committee and soliciting their sup-
port. It is the intention to conduct. the cam-
paign with the co-operation of as many manu-
facturers as possible and the plans are such that
the promotion of the player-piano will be coun-
try-wide and will emphasize the importance of
music in the home life of the American people,
suggesting the player-piano as an ideal musical
instrument.
