'LITTLE MISS CHARITY" PRESENTED
REPORT GOOD DEMAND FOR SONGS
New Musical Comedy Favorably Received—
Stern & Co. Publishing the Score
"There's a Girl Who Waits in Loveland" the
Feature of Ahlheim Music Co. Catalog
"Little Miss Charity," the new musical
comedy, with book and lyrics by Edward Clark
and music by S. R. Henry and M. Savin, re-
cently opened at the Belmont Theatre, New
York. The piece is the musical version of the
farce "Not With My Money," which had some
success several seasons ago. The show evi-
dently made an impression upon the various
critics, as their reports invariably have been fa-
vorable. The music particularly came in for
special mention. Frank Moulan heads the show
and is supported by a cast of much merit.
The following are the musical numbers: "That
Certain Something," "When Love Comes to
Your Heart," "Angel Town," "Step Inside,"
"Eyes of Youth," "Crinoline Girl," "Little Miss
Charity," "Dance Me Around" and "'A Woman's
Touch." Jos. W. Stern & Co. are the publish-
ers of the score.
The Walter A. Ahlheim Music Co., Decatur,
111., are meeting with much success with several
numbers in their catalog, notably, "There's
a Girl Who Waits in Loveland" and "Take
Me Back to Old Missouri."
The former
song is being used by a number of acts
in vaudeville, among them Sanders and
Porter, who have written the Ahlheim Music Co.
to the effect that it is the best love song they
have ever used.
The demand for the various songs is steadily
growing and is of a volume to indicate that there
is a distinct change in the retail music situa-
tion and in the buying attitude of the public.
The tendency appears to be in favor of the bet-
ter class of songs retailing in the neighborhood
of 30 cents.
NEW "BABY" SONG IS POPULAR
Generous Offering of Music Indicates Confi-
dence in Prospects for Business
"When I See All the Loving They Waste on
Babies" (I Long for the Cradle Again) is the
name of a new comic song published by Fred
Fisher, Inc. To demonstrate that this novelty
has much merit is proved by the fact that it is
sung by a long list of vaudeville stars and by
Eddie Cantor, late of Ziegfeld "Follies";
Eileen Stanly, the principal in the musical revue,
"Silks and Satins"; Jack Strauss, of the Century
Roof, and other leaders in the singing profes-
sion. It was written by Arthur Johnston Hop-
wood and Sam Ward.
Banjo Wallace, the well-known instrumental-
ist, is featuring three numbers from the Jos.
W. Stern & Co. catalog, "Blue Diamonds," "I'm
a Jazz Vampire" and "Old Man Jazz."

DITSON LIST JFOR SEPTEMBER
A full appreciation of the opportunity that
will be offered for the sale of good music during
the Fall is indicated by the extent of, and gen-
eral variety found in, the Monthly Novelty List
issued by the Oliver Ditson Co. for September.
The introduction to the dealers' list includes
some comments that are worthy of thought.
The introduction says in part:
"September 1 is New Year's Day for publish-
ers and educators. On that day the activities
for a new season begin and it is therefore the
time to turn over a new leaf and begin on a
bright, clean page.
"Every music dealer should take advantage of
the situation and resolve that he will do more
this year to deserve the friendship and orders
from music teachers, musicians and music lov-
ers in his territory than ever before."
