NEW LEHAR OPERA A SUCCESS
Composer to Conduct "The Blue Mazur" When
Presented in New York Next Fall
Reports from Vienna are to the effect that
Franz Lehar's new opera, "The Blue Mazur,"
which has been produced at the Wiener Theatre,
shows the composer at his best, and reflects an
abundance of brilliant orchestration and melo-
dious invention. The new piece resembles a
grand cpera in character, and the section of the
music that made the strongest appeal included
a quintet, a dreamy waltz song, and a stirring
inarch. "The Blue Mazur" will be produced in
America next Fall, with Lehar conducting in
person.
A NEW TRIANGLE NUMBER
The Triangle Music Publishing Co., 145 West
Forty-fifth street, New York City, recently re-
leased a new novelty .number entitled "A Hun-
dred Years Ago." The words of the number
are from the pens of Bob Schafer and Nell Ben-
nett, with music by Dave Ringle. The number
is already being sung in vaudeville, and it is
the type of novelty comedy numbers which have
been having much success of late.
Joe Davis, manager of the above firm, will
start an immediate campaign on the song.

lowing the initial introduction of the above song,
the Chicago papers acclaimed Lewis the greatest

song and dance circles. Irving Berlin, Inc., is
making a big campaign on this song, and with
the assistance of Ted Lewis, who is well-known
in both musical comedy, vaudeville and talking
machine record circles, this number will, with-

tions the firm plans a busy Summer.
Reproduced below is an item that recently
appeared in one of the London papers which
again demonstrates, as reports have constantly
shown during the past few months, that Amer-
ican musical works are in their ascendancy as
far as popularity in English territory is con-
cerned.
"The Prince of Wales has sent a request to
Mr. de Courville for the music and the lyrics
of the song called 'Me-Ow,' which is sung by
Miss Anita Elson in the 'Whirligig,' at the Pal-
ace Theatre, which the Prince of Wales saw last
week. He is desirous of taking them with him
on the 'Renown.'
"The 'Renown' is taking the Prince of Wales
to Australia. 'Me-Ow' has been making a hit
in England. It will now get a royal introduc-
tion to the Antipodes."
"Me-Ow," the number given publicity in this
instance, is from the catalog of the Sam Fox
