STASNY SONGS POPULAR IN ENGLAND
Branch Managers of Stasny Co. Plan to Sail for
London to Help in Strong Campaign
MISTAKES!
These are the two greatest mistakes that :i
music store can make:
NOT carrying CENTURY CERTIFIED
EDITION at a l l OR carrying It
under cover
By not carrying it at all—You realize not a
penny's worth of benelit from the Thousands
of Polhirs Century spemls eaeli year to help
improve your nonconyright sales—And, mind
you, not another house has ever spent a red
eent to help you sell a single copy of the
same numbers which they also publish.
To carry it under cover—is forcing your cus-
tomers to inNiist on "CENTIBV," which is no
tairer to them than to yourself—And it cer-
tainly isn't lending much encouragement to
the National Advertiser to continue spending
thousands ,,f hard-earned dollars digging up
trade for YOl*.
IT IS NOT TOO LATK TO REMEDY THESE
MISTAKES!

PUBLISHERS PLAN CREDIT BUREAU
It is stated that the Music Publishers' Pro-
tective Association is'now considering the estab-
lishment of a credit bureau to provide for the
exchange of credit information among the mem-
bers of the organization, and to remedy certain
evils that have crept into that department of
the trade. It is claimed that certain dealers
are not inclined to meet their obligations to
publishers with any degree of promptness and
that long standing accounts are common. It is
believed that a credit bureau will serve to
remedy this condition.
Owing to the success in England of a number
of songs published by A. J. Stasny & Co., par-
ticularly "Girl of Mine," the Stasny Co. has
planned to elaborate its campaign in that coun-
try. Arrangements have been made whereby
Hilly Mason, Chicago manager of the Stasny
Co., and Robert F. Winningham, manager of
the company's Boston office, will sail for Eng-
land shortly to join the London staff of the
house. England is proving a strong market for
popular music just now, according to Mr. Stasny,
and he is prepared to take advantage of the
condition.

WHY DIDN'T YOU
LEAVE ME YEARS
AGO
(Instead of Leaving Me Now?)
W. C. Handy and his orchestra have been
touring the South during the past few weeks,
visiting Savannah, Atlanta, Montgomery, Mem-
phis, Little Rock and other cities, and playing
to audiences that taxed the capacities of the
largest auditoriums. The orchestra features
numbers from the catalog of the Pace & Handy
Muyc Co., and naturally its appearance creates
a strong demand for those numbers for local
dealers. Among the leading sellers are "Nightie
Night," "It's Your Move Now," "Yellow Dog
Blues" and "A Good Man Is Hard to Find."

Numbers From "Baby Blues" Offered for Sale
by the Producers
Rogers it Roberts, producers of the musical
show, "Baby Blues," now playing in the Put-
nam Theatre, Brooklyn, N. Y., are also the
puhlishers of four of the musical numbers which
are considered the feature songs of the produc-
tion. They are: "Baby Blues," "Jewel of the
Big Blue Nile," "Any Old Dance Is a Wonder-
ful Dance if You Dance With a Wonderful
(iirl" and '"Rock-a-Bye Baby Blues." Owing to
the interest in the production, they have de-
cided to sell the songs in question, including
copyright, plates, etc. The numbers have had
a fairly good sale which no doubt could be
increased when handled by a larger organiza-
tion.
C. A. STOUT ORGANIZES
Composer Forms Publishing Concern in Vin-
cennes, Ind.
Clarence A. Stout, writer of the song, "Oh
Death, Where Is Thy Sting" and other popular
numbers, has formed a firm for the purpose
of publishing his own compositions, to be known
as the Stout Music Co., located in Vincennes,
Ind. The' new firm announces two numbers,
"Believe Me," a coon shout, and "There Will
Come a Time," described as a novelty blues.
Both numbers are being used frequently in
vaudeville. Mr. Stout, by* the way, has writ-
ten several special numbers for Bert Williams
of "Ziegh'ld's Follies" fame.
