There is at least one type of song that never
entirely loses favor, and that is the waltz type.
Recently, however, the popularity of the waltz
has greatly increased, and from all appearances
the Spring season wilt see it featured strongly
on dance programs, supplanting the fox-trot in
popularity. A good deal of this new interest in
waltzes is no doubt due to the fact that they
are of the dreamy variety, carrying exception-
ally pleasing melodies of popular flavor. The
orchestras seem to be lending encouragement to
the move to revive the interest for the waltz,
which had waned somewhat in favor of the
fox-trot during the past two years.
Among the newer waltzes that are gaining
favor at present is "Alabama Moon," from
the catalog of the Sam Fox Pub. Co., Cleve-
land, O. This work is from the pen of George
Hamilton Green, and in some quarters has
already been considered a hit. Along Broadway
it certainly has taken an active place in the
programs.
George Hamilton Green, by the way, is a
member of the All-Star-Trio, who have done
excellent work for various talking machine rec-
ord companies. He is well known in orchestra
circles and as a soloist on the xylophone.

The Echo Music Pub. Co., Seattle, Wash., re-
port heavy sales on their new song "Rainbow
Isle," a very pretty waltz number from the pen
of James W. Casey. This song, by the way, is
receiving much publicity in Conjunction with
D. W. Griffith's Hawaiian motion picture mas-
terpiece, "The Idol Dancer." It was personally
chosen by Mr. Griffith as the musical theme for
the above production, and will be featured at
every performance of the picture.
The Echo Music Pub. Co. have inserted full
page advertisements in all the motion picture
magazines, and they have the earnest co-opera-
tion of the D. W. Griffith organization and the
exhibitors in giving the number publicity.
