NATION THIRSTS FOR MUSIC
Thus Declares Duane Sawyer, Saxophonist,
Who Urges Musicians to Reap Harvest
How to Overcome
Slow Deliveries
The constant increasing demand for "CEN-
TURY EDITION" created through our exten-
sive advertising, plus dealer push, compels us
to urge all dealers to anticipate their CEN-
Tl'RY needs th advance NO as to protect their
customers' wishes and their own profits.
Quick deliveries cannot be depended upon,
either by express or Parcel Post. The only
safeguard is to order two or three months'
supply of CENTURY'S steady sellers and
have it go forward freight.
The loss of a sale ofttimes means losing the
customer and profit, too.

Have you a little saxophone in your home, or
are you ambitious to own and play one? Now
is the time to start in learning to play it, says
Duane Sawyer, who lives at Detroit when at
home, but spends most of his time traveling
about with his own pet captive saxophone.
"Never mind what the neighbors think or
say," he said in effect recently. "Prohibition has
come and. with it the golden harvest of the
musician. I'm a wet and I regard the
Eighteenth Amendment as a blow to the per-
sonal liberty of the American citizen, but just
the same we musicians have to thank the drys
for the busiest, most profitable season of our
lives.
"The demand for musicians and musical in-
struments comes from all over the country.
Every little cross-roads and hamlet has felt
the dance craze and they are all calling for
music.
"Therefore I am advising every one with any
music in his or her soul to get busy, master an
instrument and begin gathering in the golden
harvest. Now is the time, while the nation
thirsts."

There is at least one type of song that never
entirely loses favor, and that is the waltz type.
Recently, however, the popularity of the waltz
has greatly increased, and from all appearances
the Spring season wilt see it featured strongly
on dance programs, supplanting the fox-trot in
popularity. A good deal of this new interest in
waltzes is no doubt due to the fact that they
are of the dreamy variety, carrying exception-
ally pleasing melodies of popular flavor. The
orchestras seem to be lending encouragement to
the move to revive the interest for the waltz,
which had waned somewhat in favor of the
fox-trot during the past two years.
Among the newer waltzes that are gaining
favor at present is "Alabama Moon," from
the catalog of the Sam Fox Pub. Co., Cleve-
land, O. This work is from the pen of George
Hamilton Green, and in some quarters has
already been considered a hit. Along Broadway
it certainly has taken an active place in the
programs.
George Hamilton Green, by the way, is a
member of the All-Star-Trio, who have done
excellent work for various talking machine rec-
ord companies. He is well known in orchestra
circles and as a soloist on the xylophone.

The Echo Music Pub. Co., Seattle, Wash., re-
port heavy sales on their new song "Rainbow
Isle," a very pretty waltz number from the pen
of James W. Casey. This song, by the way, is
receiving much publicity in Conjunction with
D. W. Griffith's Hawaiian motion picture mas-
terpiece, "The Idol Dancer." It was personally
chosen by Mr. Griffith as the musical theme for
the above production, and will be featured at
every performance of the picture.
The Echo Music Pub. Co. have inserted full
page advertisements in all the motion picture
magazines, and they have the earnest co-opera-
tion of the D. W. Griffith organization and the
exhibitors in giving the number publicity.
