That the followers of jazz and dancing of this
country have not a world monopoly of the craze
is demonstrated, by the recent report from
Paris to the effect that dancing remains the
traze there. It is recorded that Terpsichore has
ever held sway after great upheavals and that
following the great French Revolution there
were over a thousand dancing establishments
in Paris. They were then called bals; now the
linglish word "dancing" is used and, without
estimating the number, such resorts are numer-
ous. It was thought Spanish steps would pre-
vail, with the tango, but it now appears there
is to be an invasion of neo-American dances, and
something fresh is crossing by each boat. The
authorities do hot smile on the craze, but still
it brings in large sums in the form t)f "war tax"
charges on the admission prices.

FINE PROFESSIONAL STUDIOS
"The Crocodile," Published by Irving Berlin,
Inc., Holds Much Promise for Future
Richmond, the Publisher, Opens New Quarters
at 1544 Broadway for Convenience of the Pro-
fession—Fitted Up in Elaborate Manner
Otto Motzaii ;md Harry Akst have just fin-
ished a new song which lias been accepted for
immediate publication by Irving Berlin, Inc.
Tt is entitled "The Crocodile" and is of the
Oriental style.
Maurice Siegel, musical director of the Ful-
ton and Morosco theatres, Xevv
York, while visiting the offices of
Irving I'.erlin, Inc., recently hap-
pened to see the "lead" sheets of
the above number when they were
submitted for final (). K., and hear-
ing the melody played he imme-
diately requested orchestrations for-
both of his houses. Of course, at
that time the publishers of the'
number had not as yet received
orchestrations, but Mr. Siegel was
so enthusiastic he had the orches-
trations made himself. The pub-
lishers feel "The Crocodile" is a
number of much promise and will shortly
augurate a publicity campaign in its behalf.
