"INDIANA MOON" A LIVE NUMBER
Daniels & Wilson, Inc., well-known publish-
ers of New York and San Francisco, are quite
enthusiastic over their latest waltz, "Indiana
Moon." Milt Hagen, manager of the New York
office, states the number, is proving a natural
hit in Western territory.
The song is the composition of Oliver G.
Wallace, writer of "Hindustan," and Arthur
Freed. "Indiana Moon" and Wheeler Wads-
worth's "Bow Wow" and Lewis Weslyn and
Neil Moret's new fox-trot, "Sally, Shame on
You," are the feature numbers of the above
firm's catalog.

In one of the recent issues of the New York
Evening Mail, under the caption "Countless
Song' "
Song Hits Record of Music Firm," the follow-
ing appeared:
"When the latest 'jazz' strains are heard from
the orchestra and the piece scores a 'sure-tire'
hit, there is an instant demand for the title,
which means a further demand for the selec-
tion at the music dealer's immediately there-
after.
"To have established a nation-wide reputa-
tion as a leader in the production of the 'sure-
tire' type of popular songs, a reputation which
is constantly being enhanced, is the record of

demanded genuine merit and as a result has
been justly able to claim genuine merit for the
songs published. Its countless hits have borne

"YELLOW DOG BLUES" A SENSATION
AN ATTRACTIVE WINDOW DISPLAY
Novelty Number Issued by Pace & Handy Al-
most Creates a Riot in Pittsburgh—Record
Sales Have Passed Half Million
Little Rock Music Store Features Remick
Numbers During Appearance of Well-known
Vaudeville Team at the Local Theatres
The Memphis Blues Band, Inc., under the di-
rectorship of W. C. Handy, has been touring
western Pennsylvania territory during the past
two weeks. While the band makes no effort
to feature exclusively the works of the publish-
ing firm of Pace & Handy, it invariably finds
that the audiences are desirous of hearing both
the old and the new "blue" numbers that the
Pace & Handy firm have featured for the past
several years.
Harry H. Pace, president, who recently ar-
rived in New York to take part in the active
management of the Pace & Handy concern,
made a trip to Pittsburgh while the band was
playing there, for the purpose of calling on
the trade. In the evening he attended the con-
cert and entered the hall just as the number
"Yellow Dog Blues" was being rendered. This
is the selection in which the musicians laugh,
and in which is introduced the famous "laugh-
ing trombone." He reports that the number's
reception was actually a riot. What he felt
was a coincidence was the fact that just prior
to his leaving New York he received a report
that the sale of the talking machine records of
"Yellow Dog Blues" had reached over a half
million. As the sales of the sheet music are
also steadily mounting, Mr. Pace feels that the
band and everybody else connected with the
organization have a very definite reason Tor un-
usual joy.
One of the most attractive window displays
shown in some time recently appeared in the
S. H. Kress ; store, Little Rock, Ark., when the
Jerome H. Remick & Co. number, "When He
Gave Me You" (Mother Mine), was featured.
NEW SONG BY ETHWELL HANSON
Ethwell Hanson, a well-known organist of
Chicago, 111., has placed with the Riviera Music
Co. of thai city a number of songs, including
"Desertland." Mr. Hanson has to his credit
the following numbers, which have been pub-
lished in the past: "Golden Glow," "My Love
for You" and "Sweet Southern Dreams." "My
Love for You" is published by Forster, Music
Publisher, Inc., Chicago, and is a work that has
been highly commended by Geraldine Farrar.
are arranged to give the window a distinctive
effect. It will be noticed that an announcement
of the appearance of Murphy and White at the
local theatre is shown in a prominent place. On
the music counters in the interior of the store
the song was given prominence, and attractive
hangers featuring the title of the number were
placed in a position where they immediately
caught the eye.
In recent months The Review has been re-
ceiving many photographs of artistic windows,
