THE
MUSIC TRADE
REVIEW
HE year which has passed has been
marked by unusual conditions in the
piano industry—a decided shortage of
skilled factory workmen—a high-water-
mark demand for instruments of all classes.
The many problems of production which these conditions have
brought about have been shared alike by all manufacturers.
The problem could have been met by a lowering of quality stand'
ards. To this method of solution we have always been opposed.
All through this trying period we have rigidly maintained every
Cable quality standard. To be sure, it was at the sacrifice of pro'
duction. And a sacrifice of production means a sacrifice of profits.
One thing has been most satisfying to us — the attitude of
our dealers. Without exception every dealer has stood by
us loyally—approved our policy and defended our position. To
many this has meant a sacrifice.
Surely it is not out of place here to openly commend and thank
so loyal a group of dealers. It is a pleasure to be associated
with men of this type.
W e want to reassure every Cable dealer that we are doing
everything in our power to bring about great production. New
factory methods have been worked out. Operations have been
speeded up wherever possible. A systematic, countrywide
search for high'dass labor is in progress. Factory working
conditions are being bettered.
Conditions are improving—and we hope, before many months, that
every Cable dealer will be more than repaid for his loyalty and
patience during the strenuous times through which we are passing.
