A NEW ORIENTAL SONG HIT
JOE GOODWIN SHOWS OLD FORM
CHAS. K. HARRIS AS SINGER
"China Lily" Has Some Refreshingly Original
Features of Composition
Shapiro, Bernstein & Co., Inc., are publishing
a new song, entitled "Breeze" (Blow My Baby
Back to Me), which is having a big sale since
its release a short time ago. This is probably
the most successful number Joe Goodwin has
written since his release from the United States
Army and it appears that he has produced a
song far above the average, inasmuch as it is of
the style that does not have a short life despite
its being real popular.
Well-known Composer to Turn Loose His
Voice at Barney Fagan Testimonial
Some little idea of the lilting Oriental-Occi-
dental melody and the happy lyrics of "China
Lily" can be gained from the thematic printed
herewith. Bob Chamberlin (Mrs. Anabelle
THE LATEST SAM FOX SUCCESS
The Sam Fox Publishing Co., Cleveland, O.,
are making a big campaign on the high-class
song from their catalog, called "Think, Love,
of Me." Reinald Werrenrath, the well-known
concert star, has recorded the number for the
Victor Talking Machine Co. and it is receiv-
ing recognition in other directions.

manner in which the song is sung and the
many words of praise she has received that this
is the biggest popular hit she has thus far pro-
duced. It is distinctly of the production music
type and one can just see the soloists swing-
ing to the rhythm of the song, backed up by a
bevy of Chinese slaves, also swaying with a gen-
tle feminine limp, as though they had not yet
recovered from the effects of their maternal an-
cestors' bound feet. The main virtue of the
piece is that it is not reminiscent of the Mikado.
Pace & Handy, the "Blues" specialists, have
just purchased a new number of that type en-
titled "The Jail House Blues," composed by
W. Ettiman Farrell.

For over a score of years ballads composed
and written by Chas. K. Harris have been sung
in all parts of the world and Mr. Harris' name
in association with ballads may be really said
to have become a household word. In all these
years, however, Mr. Harris has never appeared
in public as a singer of his own works, although
ir. his studios he has never hesitated to sing
them for the benefit of his friends. Those who
are desirous of seeing Mr. Harris make his de-
but as a public singer on the stage, and they
should be legion, are promised that opportunity
on next Sunday evening, August 31, at the Man-
hattan Opera House, at the benefit to be ten-
dered Barney Fagan, the veteran actor and
dancer. Several opera stars will also sing.
