SCHIRMER EMPLOYE DEAD
It has been reported by the- War Depart-
ment that Private Frank Ankelein, who had been
in France for some months as a member of the
American Expeditionary Forces, died abroad on
July 20 from spinal meningitis. Private An-
kelein lived with his parents at 562 West 149th
street, New York, and before joining the army
was employed by G. Schirmer, Inc., music pub-
lishers.

with Arthur F. .Schmidt and Harry B. Crosby,
and it can readily be believed that Mr. Wood-
man was an astonished man when on his return
he learned of the honor that had been conferred
on him.
Mr. Woodman continued president for three
years and during that time the club prospered,
and its members had many good times both dur-
ing the winter and summer seasons. To-day the
club has 109 members who include both the
male and female employes of the house, this
inclusive attitude having been assumed during
the presidency of William Arms Fisher, editor
and publication manager of the Ditson Co.
The Get-Together Club has just held its an-
nual meeting and the new president elected is
James A. Smith, manager of the wholesale sheet
music department, whose picture is herewith
given. Mr. Smith's election is a well-deserved
honor, for he has been most enthusiastic at
all times in promoting the activities of the .or-
ganization from the first days of its existence.

Miss Sue Harvard
the present time in the various camps around
New York. It has been introduced and fea-
tured b}r Miss Sue Harvard, the eminent so-
prano. Miss Harvard created a sensation by-
singing the song in question on the steps of
the New York Public Library recently.
The song is somewhat different from the usual
ballad war-song. The lyric runs as follows:
Have you seen him in France, just a wee little chap,
Brother, O brother o' mine,
With his dark curly hair, underneath khaki cap,
Brother, () brother o' mine.
Have you met him out there, underneath foreign skies,
With a song on his lips, and his great laughing eyes,
Has he bound up your wounds, for the Tad's motherwise,
Brother, (') brother o' mine.
He was like a young tree by his own father's side,
Brother, () brother o mine,
But his step was as brave as his glory and pride,
Brother, () brother o' mine.
lie smiled up in my face when it came time to start,
With a kiss from them both when the drums made us part.
With a smile from them 1 both, but the smile broke my heart.
Brother, dear brother o mine.
The musical setting shows Ward-Stephens at
his best. Chappeil & Co. are the publishers.
