"GIRL BEHIND THE GUN" ARRIVES
New Musical Comedy With Score by Ivan
Caryll Wins Success at New Amsterdam—
Some Excellent Musical Numbers
"The Girl Behind the Gun," the first musical
production by Klaw & Frlanger for the current
season, came to the New Amsterdam Theatre
on Monday night and was received enthusias-
tically as being one of the best shows seen on
Broadway for a long time.
The book is by Guy Bolton, the unusually ex-
cellent lyrics by P. G. Wodehouse, and the
music by Ivan Caryll. It may be said that the
lyrics and the music, together with the staging,
have been instrumental in making the show a
success.
There is, of course, a story regarding a French
actress, who has turned her house into a home
for convalesce.its. She has a soldier godson
who comes to see her, and who is persuaded by
a youir» playwright in the same regiment to
change places with him for a certain purpose.
The actress, to get even with her flirtatious hus-
band, makes love to the playwright and the ar-
rival of the latter's wife causes further compli-
cations. Donald Brian, as the playwright, and
