NEW BALLAD WINS QUICK SUCCESS
"AMERICA FOREVER" IS POPULAR
"Just You" Proving the Strong Feature of the
Catalog of the A. J. Stasny Music Co.
E. T. Paull Music Co. Reports Stimulated De-
mand for Pleasing March Song
The A. J. Stasny Music Co., since releasing
their new ballad success, "Just You," have been
forced to add to the staffs of their branch of-
fices in Philadelphia, Chicago and Boston. Dur-
ing the first two weeks over twenty-five thou-
sand copies of "Just You" have been sold, ac-
cording to the statement of the sales manager
of the concern, and from the present outlook
the song looks like the biggest seller the Stasny
catalog has had since "I Found You Among the
Roses."
The new number by Billy Gould, "Answer Mr.
Wilson's Call," has already made an impres-
sion at the recruiting stations throughout New
York, where it has been played and sung, and
from present indications will prove a very pop-
ular patriotic number.
The war time conditions that are at present
existing in the country have brought to the fore
and revived the public interest in E. T. Paull's
patriotic march songs: "America Forever," and
"We'll Stand by the Flag," which, although pub-
lished sometime ago, are still most timely in
melody and lyrics. The "America Forever"
song, written in a lively march tempo, is ded-
icated to "The People of the United States,"
and embodies a stirring call to arms, which
should make it most effective in recruiting work.
The number is provided with a handsome title
page in four colors, with America symbolized
by a young woman of the Joan of Arc type,
bearing the national colors and with the eagle
screaming on a shield. The E. T. Paull Music
Co. has printed a special edition of "America
Forever" and "We'll Stand by the Flag" to take
care of the new and increased demands of the
trade.

Sam Fox Co. Issues Four Live Numbers to Meet
Existing Demand for Patriotic Music
The Sam Fox Publishing Co., Cleveland, O.,
has taken advantage of the patriotic spirit now
in evidence throughout the land by issuing and
featuring four live march numbers of patriotic
character, they being "All America," "The Min-
ute Man," "Pride of the Regiment" and "Army
and Navy." Special circulars* regarding the war
marches have just been issued.

Natalie Alt Singing "That's Why My Heart Is
Calling You," on Tour of West
The Karczag Publishing Co., Inc., recently
received a telegram from the well-known singer
Natalie Alt, telling them she had placed their
song, "That's Why My Heart Is Calling You"
on her program with such success that she has
decided to make it the feature number on her
ten weeks' tour of the West. This number is
the work of Harry D. Kerr and Otto Motzan,
and has been proving a great ballad success.
This also registers the fourth successful number
placed by Mr. Motzan with the Karczag con-
cern in the past six months.
NEW PUBLISHING_COMPANY FORMED
The National Music Publishing Co. has re-
cently been organized in New York and opened
offices in the Astor Theatre Building. The heads
of the company are Gregory W. Gabriel, the
well-known writer of vaudeville sketches, and J.
Ernest Lawrence, who enjoys considerable repu-
tation as a composer.

Wm. Jerome Publishing Corp. to Publish Three
Songs Featured in Vaudeville Production
Joe Howard, the well-known composer and
musical comedy star, is shortly to place a new
act in vaudeville on a very large scale. It is
to contain over twenty people, and will have at
least twelve scenes. Mr. Howard has already
arranged to place three songs from the catalog
of the Wm. Jerome Publishing Corp. in his
new offering, including a new patriotic number,
"The Spirit of 76," and a novelty song, "You
Can't Do This and You Can't Do'That."
ISSUES NEW PATRIOTIC SONGS
Hughes Publishing Co. Featuring Two Lively
March Numbers Which Have Timely Interest
The Jos. H. Hughes Publishing Co., of Sag-
inaw, Mich., are featuring two patriotic march
songs which seem to be having quite a demand
at present. The numbers are entitled "The
Finest Flag That Flies," which has been fea-
tured for some time, and a new number, "I
Love My U. S. A." Both songs are to receive
some good publicity in the next few weeks, and
this, with the Hughes organization behind them,
should keep them in the limelight.
