successful as an author and composer and has THE PUBLISH KK with jrlnd surprise,
SHOWED HIM a jrresit bijr lot,
"I'LL TAKE a thousand copies each,
THEY SURE look good to me,
THE TITLE pages sill are great,
MY TRADE will tickled be,
JUST BILL the order, please, to-day.
TEN DAYS and no discount,
WE'VE SO much money in the bank,
HERE'S HALF of the amount."
THE PRINTER calls, with bows and smiles,
"AN ORDER here for me?
THE PRICE of paper has gone down,
WHICH FILLS us all with glee,
YOUR TITLE pages you can have,
WITH COLORS two or three,
THE PRINTING, too, is cut in half,
SO ORDER, please, from me."
THEN ONE by one, the boys all come.

"OUR CHRISTMAS number will be fine,
WE WANT you publishers in.
THIS YEAR, one page is free of charge,
TO LEAVE you out's a sin."
THEN COME the "words" and "music" men,
THEIR MANUSCRIPTS to show,
"WE DON'T think much of this one, boss,
IT SEEMS a bit too slow,
WE KNOW 'twill sell a million sure,
OF THAT we have no doubt,
AND SPEAKING of the royalties,
WHY YOU pan cut them out."
THE TEN cent stores all raised the price
FROM TEN to Twenty-five,
THE PEOPLE paid the coin with joy,
AND GLAD to be alive.
THE BUYERS all sent orders in
ONE THOUSAND for each store,
Herman Lohr
not confined his work to any one class of songs.
Some of his works include: "Songs of the Norse-
land," "Eyes That Used to Gaze in Mine,"
"Romany Songs," and "Where My Caravan Has
Rested." He has also with equal facility turned
out Irish numbers such as "The Two Little
Irish Songs," "Songs in Exile" and "The Irish
Girl." Mr. Lohr is under exclusive contract to
write for Chappell & Co., Ltd., an arrangement
that has proven most satisfactory to both
parties.
"SHADES OF NIGHT" POPULAR
AND ANY song you advertise,
"WE'LL TAKE a thousand more."
THEN LAST, not least, the Singers come,
THE NEW YEAR songs to hear,
"THE GREATEST songs we ever heard"
THEY SAY and shed a tear.
"1 WANT that one, I'll pay you, Son,
HERE'S MONEY," they all scream,
THE PUBLISHER fell out of bed,
HE AWOKE! 'twas but a Dream.
"I THANK you."
ISSUES TWO MARCH SONGS
Al Piantadosi Enthusiastic Over Recent Re-
leases
Al l'iantadosi announces two new songs, "May
Heaven Bless Your Wedding Day," a march
song with a lyric that carries a new idea for that
type of song, and set to a melody that will do
much to make it one of the successes of. the Al
Piantadosi & Co., Tnc, catalog. "Good-bye
Mary Ann McCue" is the other late release.
In speaking of this song Al Piantadosi said:
"Sounds like an ordinary title but you can't
judge a book by its cover. Mary Ann McCue
is the biggest Irish march ballad published in
some time."
NEW STERN & CO. BALLAD
Jos. W. Stern & Co. have a new high-class
number, just off the press, but which has al-
ready carved a deep impression where it has
been heard. It is called "Dearest Eyes." As a
love song it has genuine charm and it is accepted
by all as an addition to the Stern catalog which
is up to the usual high standard.
C. R. WARFEL GOES TRAVELING
Charles R. Warfel, traveling representative of
Hinds, Hayden & Eldredge, Inc., left the latter
part of this week for a two month's trip, call-
ing on the trade. Mr. Warfel's trip will include
stops in the South on his way to the Pacific
Coast.
