THE REVIEW REARS
THAT John Philip Sousa and Booth Tarking-
ton recently completed a new march song, en-
titled "The Boy Scouts of America."
THAT the song "L-i-b-e-r-t-y,"' published by
the Metropolis Music Co., was adopted as the
official song of the Irish Bazaar this week.
THAT Joe McCarthy, the well-known lyricist,
recently bought a $14,000 home on Long Island.
THAT new Hawaiian songs continue being
published in what looks like an already
crowded market.
THAT publishers feel it fs a case of getting
it while the getting is good.
THAT George Graff, Jr., used up some tine
lyric material in the New York American last
Sunday, to tell how to write popular songs.
THAT the new Feist professional copies are
proving of great interest to other members of
the trade who believe that they go far to solve
a problem.
THAT "All 1 Want Is a Cottage, Some Roses
and You," the Chas. K. Harris song hit, is sell-
ing bigger than ever and promises to lead the
Harris catalog in point of sales for the" year, as
it succeeded in doing in the year past.
THAT at least two publishers announced a
2-cent increase in the wholesale price of pro-
duction music this week.

Meets W. D. Adams, of the Bergstrom Music

SAN
FRANCISCO, . CAL.,
October 13.—Edward T.
Little, manager of the sheet music department
of Sherman, Clay & Co., predicts a big sale of
"Lil Liza Jane," a song which made a decided
hit in San Francisco recently, when it was
sung for the first time at the Columbia Theatre
during the run of the play, "Come Out of the
Kitchen," produced by Henry Miller.
Sher-
man, Clay & Co. have secured the publishing
rights of this piece, and as the play in which
it was introduced to the public is about to be
put on in New York, there is good reason to
expect a lively demand in the East as well
as the West.
On account of the "Path of Gold" Fancy
Dress Ball to-night, the meeting of the San
Francisco Sheet Music Dealers' Association has
been postponed for one week. Pleasure before
business—sometimes.
Sam Fox, head of the Sam Fox Musisc Co.,
Cleveland, who is at present on a Western tour,
recently booked two large orders in one day
while in Los Angeles, one from the Southern
California Music Co., that city, and the other
from the Bergstrom Music C o , of Honolulu,
H. I. Although Mr. Fox is a lively salesman,
he was not in two places at once. He sim-
ply had the good fortune of meeting W. D.
Adams, president of the Bergstrom Music Co.,
in Los Angeles, and a showing of the Fox
prints and some first-class sales talk did the
rest.

NEW SUCCESS BY^HERMANN LOHR
That elusive "something" in a song, which
makes for popularity, is surely contained in
Hermann Lohr's latest song, "Any Place Is
Heaven if You Are Near Me." It is generally
agreed that "lightning does not strike twice in
the same place," but to follow up "Little Grey
Home in the West," with this song inspiration
was surely the exception that proves the rule.
Chappell & Co. are the publishers.
Phil Kornheiser, professional manager of Leo
Feist, Inc., is having one of the busiest fall
seasons in years. All the songs of the Feist
fall catalog seem to be having a call among
professional singers, including the recent addi-
tions to the catalog of such numbers as: "I
Know I've Got More Than My Share" and
"Honolulu, America Loves You."
